WoW Forums WOTLK healer's Tier List

I am seeking my next adventure, and yes, that means I will make a healer because I enjoy carrying the whole team and receive the praise of them all…or the blame! So… since you guys are very well educated on the matter, what healer should I roll? Who is the strongest or more beneficial as a whole? How would you rate them on a list?

Feel free to argue and rage about your choices, the more info the better!

In order of most essential to the success of the raid:

  • HPal
  • DPriest
  • RSham
  • HPriest
  • RDruid

Holy Paladin
Disc Priest
Resto Shaman
Resto Druid
Holy Priest

Holy paladins are OP, the end. Very strong to run 2 of them in the raid. Disc priest is equally as OP in that you always want to have one in the raid no matter what (especially for LK), but their downfall is you cannot run two because of weakened soul. Paladin you could probably run 3 and be fine, but two is typical limit.

Resto Shamans and Druids compliment the above with their strong raid healing capabilities. Resto druid has one issue with the way wild growth is interacting with pets which drops them a bit.

Holy priest also doesn’t bring much to the table. It’s pretty close to Rdruid and ideally you running 2 paladins, a disc, and a shaman. Holy Priest or Druid for the final spot, and if it’s a 4 heal fight have that one go DPS.

Sad tree of life noises.

holy paladins and disc priests are completely OP. every other class/spec is about even and will depend on the player. that being said, you can probably succeed with anyone who’s decent. the content currently isn’t that healing intensive.

I appreciate yall. I’ll make a Holy Paladin then, and might as well dual spec and make it Prot too. Tank and Healer on the same Toon. I already have 2 DPS and going to eventually make a Shadow Priest which would make it 3. Ill let the paladin be the character to serve the needs of others.

Just be aware that everyone and their grandmother has a holy paladin. If you really want to be valued, go resto shaman.

They bring another Mana Hymn, Divine hymn (stronger than discs because of talents) and a Cheat Death that it’s crazy strong. Literally our Hpriest carried us in Algalon because we didn’t have a shadow priest to soak with Dispersion.

Also their healing is on par with rshams.

Personally I find them better than Rdruids because Hpriest has a tank external in GS and since it’s on a 1min cd you can flex it to use it on key dps raiders, and has stronger raid cooldowns like Mana hymn and Divine hymn and still do tons of raid healing

If it’s me doing the tier list

S - Hpal | Discipline (but u bring 1)
A - Hpriest | Rsham
B - Rdruid

Paladin is truly the most overplayed class in this expansion. Yet Holy Spec has to be the least played out of the three. Me being Alliance, seeing it on BG’s we lack so many healers, I’m sure I’ll fit in no problems.

Healing in BG’s sounds good on paper, but when you hit the lobby and you’re staring at a bunch of 3600 GS trash cans…you’ll come to the realization as to why you don’t have many healers.

That being said, there’s a lot of HPals for PVE. It’ll be difficult to become a stand out HPal worth rostering.

If you’re looking to carry a raid, a very well played Holy Priest can be the healer no raid ever needed, but can be extremely desireable given the chance.

This. At some point people are going to expect a pally to have the legendary and you are going to be way behind.

My suggestion is just have your shadow go dual spec since their gear is similar and no one will expect a disc priest to have valynr

What sort of ranking criteria is being used, and for what content?

Disc priest, imo is the best healer across all content atm.

Paladins are very strong, but you don’t really need an Hpal if you have other paladins, like say 2 prot and a ret, though why not have a couple hpals, whereas you mostly don’t want to stack disc, due to how their PW:shield works.

Currently here’s my ranking list:

  • Disc >= Hpal
  • Rdru
  • Rsham == Hpriest

Hmm… a lot of the disc priests I’ve met for arenas lately have Val’anyr. Not sure what that means, but :woman_shrugging:

It means they are either the GM of their guild or that they are in guilds that 3 heal the content and got the 3rd val.

Seems like mostly it’s from GDKPs when I’ve asked. But, what I meant about not being sure what it means was whether that will be expected or not.

Everyone, their mothers, and their grandmothers all play Hpala in wotlk. Do yourself a huge favor and roll a Resto Shaman.

Dang! You guys are annoying with so many great suggestions…I want a Prot Paly and I won’t change it for anything, I also want a shadow priest…although Disc is not sounding so bad…I don’t like shamans, if I did I would roll a resto shammy for sure. Unfortunately for me, those are the only 4 classes I like. At this point is between Holy Paladin or Disc Priest.

Go Disc. I play both and Disc Priest is peak funfactor in wotlk. Holy Paladin you’re just a number, and they get super boring.

Just remember: Resto Shaman, Resto Druid, Holy Priest are all optional in a raid comp.

Go Prot/Holy and enjoy getting your H++ daily group running in 6 seconds.

All roads outside of a Paladin are a dead end if you’re starting a fresh character and expecting good results in WOTLK 2023.

i mean disc and holy will be top based on output, but I enjoy my R sham and I wouldnt play Disc or Holy paladin. Only other healer I would consider would be r druid.
