I’ve been reading some of the Forum threads created in General Discussion. I’ve noticed that some topic threads, some people are very positive about and some that people are very negative about.
Just curious as to what topic threads you like to see posted and which you dislike seeing posted?

I absolutely hate seeing posts like “who is your favorite forum poster?”
It just seemsnlike too many forum posters view it as a popularity contest. I find it kind of barfy to be honesy. Like being in jounior high again.

Talking about the GD section of the forums, I only like seeing threads relating to Retail WoW. Anything Classic WoW related belongs in the Classic WoW section, of the forums.
Yes, I understand there’s two different lounge threads, and I do post in them, but it should really be only one thread. Like the way the CS Forums does it.
That way if posters want to talk about food, it can be discussed in the one lounge thread since (unfortunately) the “off-topic” section of the forums doesn’t have a category for food. So, they all end up, here.
Even if I disagree with posters posting about what they want to see in Retail, I still believe it’s their right to talk about it. I do take issue with it being spammed, though (and, we all know what I’m talking about).
Those are my thoughts.

I like goof ball posts that either have something to do with the game or were just created for the lols.
Hate troll threads made to deliberately get bites but love the responses from those who don’t take the bait and carry on with their own threads and gifs in the troll threads.

i guess my favorite threads are ones that either seek improvements or are just kind spirited. i am a softy and a sinner in my old age.

I like most topics except…
Thinly veiled racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic threads, threads about us politics.
People complaining about “woke” anything.
Fake LGBT+ threads posted by trolls.
Also, high elf and streamer threads.

Weird, fun topics. Game play related topics. Keep your “I’m gay and don’t get enough attention” threads to reddit, or something.

I’m just here to talk about the game mostly.
Anything else can go and I won’t be upset.
I do like music threads but they really belong in the entertainment off topic section.
But I get why they get posted here. The same reason everyone talks in Trade Chat for everything in-game.
In terms of community response, I don’t feel like people tend to get annoyed by certain topics very often if they’re not blatant troll threads. Even when stuff does come up, people tend to get annoyed because whatever the hot topic is has been spammed to oblivion and back, not because they have strong opinions about the topic itself.
(see; LGBT threads, which tend to come in waves occasionally. Fine on their own, problematic when 2/3 of the forum is LGBT spam).

With the exception of like, the megathread, pretty much every LGBT+ thread on the forums is posted by a homophobic troll trying to whip people into a hateful frenzy. Please don’t blame LGBT+ people for the behavior of trolls.

Oh, yeah, I’m fully aware when that topic gets spammy it gets amplified by trolls. There’s positive and negative threads when that happens and it’s usually pretty clear which is which. But either way it results in fatigue very fast.
For what it’s worth, I like seeing you post. You seem like good people.

I like game discussion topics. 90 percent of my posts is elaborating my opinion on a WoW design subject. Somehow I find it an interesting mental exercise to lay down my opinions in a constructive manner.
I also like positive topics. Like this one for example😅 It’s nice to talk about things that we like for a change.
One thing I really dislike and is a big troll flag for me is when somebody quotes the other post piece by piece and replies to each quote, taking each sentence out of context. It’s like a virtual analogy of screaming over the other person.
Or another thing that gets to me is when someone attacks someone based on their active forum character. Stuff like “how can you know anything, you’re a level 50”. Like people don’t know that it’s a hassle to switch characters based on what you’re currently playing, because forum notifications and trust level are character specific.

Positive threads discussing Blood Elves.
Specifically anytime people discuss revamping Quel’thalas for Blood Elf / Horde players, at this point should have made some progress in seeing Quel’thalas restored. Maybe when they do class restrictions some of the reasoning for Druid could be healing the land.
Also Sylvanas discussions.

I love all threads that give their feedback. I can’t say I dislike any threads. Either way it’s just a video game forum so I try not to take anything too seriously
