Hi, i believe i have a problem with the new 10.2.5 patch. My wow used to be way smaller than it is at the moment (right now it is 123 gb - should it be this big?) - my ssd with windows and wow had like 30, 40, 50 or so gb left and now it has like 20) and i believe that it happened yesterday on patch 10.2.5. My C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\data is like 101 gb, which seems normal, but my C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\indices is 21.5 gb. Is it safe to delete it? I do not want to reinstall my game and lose my configs, UI, addons and weakauras.
I have an 110GB SSD just for WoW that just isn’t enough to download all the game, jeez… Guess it’s time for another data “optimization”?
Howdy!
The System Requirements lists 128GB free. With any update, the game size may slightly change, due to new data. I have Dragonflight, WOTLK, and Classic Era all installed from an installation that is about 4 years old. (Just meaning I never did a fresh reinstall since) the client is about 132GB. My Data\Data was 111GB, Indices 20.4GB.
I can not find any known bugs related to unintended game size increases. Your file size is normal and within our system requirements. As for feedback to our developers on the size of the game, I recommend providing that feedback Here.
If you want to try to lower the size of the game the most here are some steps you could try:
- Other versions of the game share most of their data, but you could try removing them if you are not playing WOTLK or Classic World of Warcraft.
- Perform a full User Interface reset for each version of the game you have installed.
- Perform a clean install.
Thank you!
