Zones are all separated and laden with invisible walls, server setup is weird as hell and you see people rubber band all over the place at peak connection

This is incorrect. 5.3 has been announced to launch August 11th.
I play both games, have done extremes and some savage on FFXIV and I push keys on here. There’s aspects I like about both, so something to do once I finish doing things on one or the other.
So go play FF XIV, it’s not like anyone here would really miss you…
Nope, not even close. Of the non-WoW MMO’s I disliked the gameplay in FFXIV. I enjoyed GW2 for a long time. Enjoyed leveling my first character in SWTOR. ESO was fine, until they went limited FTP. Was looking forward to New World, but don’t think Amazon knows what they are doing.

And yet WOW, Tera, Black Desert can all continue updating their game. And Blue Protocol, a new MMO can do two entire alpha/beta tests and launch their game. Funny how that works isn’t it?

WoW hasn’t been updated in 6 months besides a vendor introduction that should have been around from the start. Same difference.

I enjoyed playing FFXIV. Story was good, gameplay was good once you got to higher levels, and stuff like player housing is fun.
I also enjoy playing WoW. The story is… well, its there. The gameplay is… well not right now but in general its good. They may go overboard with new systems, but at least WoW is trying something new. FFXIV sticks very closely to the formula they’ve had since they relaunched.

It’s almost like there’s been an alpha going around getting weekly updates, perhaps. And we’re still getting tuning down, XIV hasn’t gotten a tuning patch either. Only “new” content its received is them bringing old events back into the game. That being the FFXI event, and the Dragon Quest event.

Weird, I don’t see any Alpha for FF14. Almost like they are trying to work on a major content patch while dealing with a pandemic.

That’s a very good point. XIV doesn’t do an alpha either, so the content is poorly tested and balancing concerns happen frequently. Remember A3S?

Yes and they actually fix it. XIV’s philosophy on class design is “we’ll fix it next expansion” and they don’t. Prime example being White Mage. Terrible in heavensward, they promised it would be fixed in stormblood, and it wasn’t.
