I have Bnet and WoW on an external hard drive because my comp was having storage issues, and lately, post shadowlands pre-patch, i have been seeing this File I/O error happen alot. I uninstalled everything and even made sure to reinstall in the same drive, i checked drive, its fine… IDK what is happening, ive never had this issue… please help.
Howdy Blainia,
We have seen similar errors happen in the past when trying to install or update to external media or when there are USB devices plugged in that could be causing conflicts with the drive letters. In this case, I would suggest disabling all other USB devices besides the keyboard and mouse. If this persists, then I’d recommend uninstalling the Blizzard and reinstalling it to the C drive if possible to test if there’s any change.
That’s the thing I have never had this issue until now… and my mouse is blue tooth… no USB… the only USB connection is a USB hub which has the hard drive and my headset.
Blainia,
Can you try temporarily reinstalling the game on your main HD and see if the errors persist? I’d also try playing from a new admin account and temporarily uninstalling any security/backup software you’re using to see if one of them is fighting us.
HI, I am having the same File I/o Error. I have deleted & reinstalled wow and battle.net multiple times now. Each reinstall has been onto my internal hard drive (C drive). I have unplugged all USB’s bar my mouse and keyboard. I have uninstalled curse forge & wow up, I have tried running as admin, I have re installed latest drives. Any other suggestions? only started occurring post pre patch update. Please help me !!!
