WoW Error #154 (0x8510009a)

I installed Classic WoW to check it out. When I log out to switch over to BfA I get an error message: ERROR #154 (0x8510009a), where I can’t log into the game from launcher. How do I fix this problem?

Again, this happened as a result of installing Classic WoW, logging into Classic WoW, then exiting to switch over to BfA. And now BfA is unplayable as a result.

Does this from a fresh launch of the BNet app or only directly after playing WoW: Classic? If it’s the latter, you likely need to wait for Agent to kill itself after exiting the BNet app first as it would be Agent that is causing the problem as it’s still using your login credentials for Classic vs. BfA.

From a fresh launch of the BNet app when Agent is not running already, this shouldn’t happen.

It was doing it in both cases. While Bnet was open, I closed out of Classic WoW, switch to BfA, and launched it - get error message. Then I closed out Bnet, made sure BfA was selected and launched game - get error message. I then closed out all WoW apps, restarted Bnet, and the issue persisted.

So I ended up uninstalling both BfA and Classic to re-download BfA. It’s done and is working fine.

Had this exact error today. Note I installed classic wow I did not run it up.

The error persisted through multiple relaunches of battle.net.

I resolved the error by a restart of my machine and it which point it did a patch of wow retail and no error occurred.

In the future would killing the agent process resolve this? I would rather not have to restart the hardware if I just want to switch from classic to retail

Howdy!

You can manually check for updates via the Blizzard app. If the issue continues clearing the WTF cache files would also help, we cover these steps Here. You could also end the Agent.exe task via task manager instead of restarting the computer. You would want to exit the application normally and only ending that task if it doesn’t disappear on it’s own after 30 seconds.

Thank you!
