Wow Error 132 Fix - MSI X570 Tomahawk Motherboard

Hi Guys,

Thought I would drop this here so there would be a record. I started experiencing recurring 132 errors after uprading to a new Ryzen CPU (5900x) and MSI Motherboard (X570 Tomahawk). I would play for an hour or so and then a memory error would crash the game.

I tried everything to fix it, deleting cache/WFT folders, repairing game, re-downloading game, turning off anti-virus, disabling Xbox overlay bar, turning off hardware-monitoring programs, swithcing to DX11 etc… etc… Nothing worked.

I was finally able to fix the issue by DISABLING A-XMP in my BIOS while setting my memory frequency + fclock frequency + voltage manually so it would still run at optimal speeds. That finally solved it.

I’ve haven’t run into error 132 since. Seems there was something funky happening with XMP on my mobo.

I know this is a very specific use-case, but thought I would share nonetheless for those who might be dealing with the same issue.

Hi Ghalfus

This is interesting - thanks for reporting. I’m curious what the Error itself shows. Can you paste one of the recent 132 errors out of your Errors folder.

It’s a wall of text - can you put it up on Pastebin.com. Provide the code from the pastebin link - the green bold portion of this example:

Had been consistently getting these errors over the past 2 months, until I upgraded my BIOS and turned off A-XMP.

My RAM is GSKILL Trident NEO 3600 32gb

Curious to know, did the report show anything interesting?

The error is just a general access error. Are you using any security apps like AVG or Avast?

Like Elocin said it’s a general error - crashing on the game. Nothing really stands out Ghalfus

Thanks Team. No I was using Malwarebytes but always made sure to close the program before running WoW.

I still haven’t run into any issues since turning off XMP so I guess problem solved… knock on wood

Thank you for this, I’m trying it now! I built a new system less than 2 months ago and I’m using the x570 Tomahawk, 5800x, and a 3080 and I get constant 132 errors too. I’ve tried downclocking, undervolting, and stock settings on the graphics card with no change, I’ve reinstalled windows and wow, all drivers up to date, no addons, still getting the same issues. Stock speeds on CPU with PBO on auto and xmp for G Skill ram.

I’m currently trying out different AA options and it seems to be running longer without an error (testing it today), but if I get another error this will be my next step to try!

Hi Azshira

If this continues after your testing can you Pastebin the most recent Wow error.

It will be found in the Main Wow folder > Retail folder > Errors folder. It is a long wall of text. Pastebin the entire error.

Provide the code from the pastebin link - the green bold portion of this example:

Thanks for your help and apologies to OP, I don’t mean to hijack this thread. Here is the pastebin, the 132 error happened even with only CMAA or MSAA enabled but not both.

https://pastebin.com/Q66ayhME

Interestingly, after trying OP’s recommendation, I got another error, but this time it said “Not enough memory” instead of the usual 132 error; I know I have enough memory since there is 10gb on my 3080 (A little over 5gb was being used at the time of the crash) and 32gb RAM. I’ve upped the voltage on my ram from 1.35v to 1.4v just to see if it helps, but it does appear to be either an x570 Tomahawk or memory issue. If the increased voltage doesn’t help, I may request an RMA on the RAM, even though it passes memtest86.

Rivatuner stikes again:

1. DBG-MODULE<0000000180000000 003CC000 "RTSSHooks64.dll" "" 0 {00000000-0000-0000-0000000000000000} 0 1614423034>

Uninstall Rivatuner - it may have come packed with Afterburner - uninstall them both.

Thanks, trying that now, game is running for a test.

Does that line you found indicate RivaTuner caused the crash or is it stating that RivaTuner is present and you have found it to be the cause of crashes in other instances? It will be wonderful if I can determine for certain that this is the cause, but the downside is I can’t use a custom fan curve for my gaming x trio 3080. The default fan curve lets it get up to 80+ before picking up and I like to keep it running a little cooler.

The MSI dragon center makes a mess with all of its addons so I’m trying to avoid using it instead. I suppose I could try the MSI low temp bios if this is the cause though.

RivaTuner shows up as broken in the game modules - see all the zeros. Means broken. Wow doesn’t like overlays and things hooking up into the game. Quite likely that Wow security broke it on purpose.

Will Afterburner suffice. If the crash is gone after you test with both uninstalled try Afterburner on it’s own.

80C is normal operating temperature for the card. I wouldn’t be concerned there at all. Why the card is set to keep temp around 80. You are trying to “out engineer” the engineers -

I was able to fix my errors finally. Uninstalling Afterburner and Riva Tuner did not make a difference unfortunately. I decided to double check my BIOS and I was using a BIOS from March on my motherboard. There was a new BIOS from April available and my March BIOS was no longer on MSI’s website. After updating, I’m error free! It said it fixed USB compatibility so perhaps my mouse or keyboard was causing the crash.

Anyways, I’m error free and while using RivaTuner / Afterburner again! I’m hoping this can help other x570 users that find this thread.

Good to see Azshira. That RivaTuner crash may come back. Common to see those on the forum here.
