Who else likes exploring and finding easter eggs in the game?
Some famous ones dating back to the early years:
- Mulgore critter war.
- Satanic children of Goldshire.
- Jar of Ashes.
- Ahab Wheathoof.
- Shrine of Nova Terra.
- Nagrand orphanage.
- Stormwind robot sheep.
- Beggar’s Haunt.
- Upside-down sinners room.
There used to be a great podcast called Warcraft Less Travelled that documented these places, but it seems to have vanished from the internet. It’s too bad because seeing all these little oddities in the game is a fun thing to do when you’re looking for something to break the monotony.
Recently I came across some on YouTube that I hadn’t even heard of, and I thought I knew them all.
Do you ever check out these memorials, creepy vignettes, and in-jokes?

I remember visiting the Robin Williams tribute in Nagrand (Warlords version) a lot, as I’m a fan of his stand-up work. I also visited with thousands of others when he passed.

The orphanage there is really disturbing.
I remember there being smiley faces painted onto the terrain in places players wouldn’t normally be able to access. Kara had one, and I think a mountain top in thousand needles did as well.

I visited the memorial of the player they made a movie about recently. I mostly like the references to pop culture but those mostly pop up in the older stuff. Didn’t see as much this expansion, or last.

I can’t go to Mulgore or Thunder Bluff without swooping down to give a /wave or /hug to Ahab Wheathoof. His voice actor would have been 29 today.

Not easter eggs so much that I can remember, but in Dragonflight they did a bit with animals doing adorable things. If I didn’t do so much mining and herbing I’m sure I would have missed the frog chorus. there’s a cliff where cute baby ducks are trying to get on the back of a larger buzzard who is trying to take care of them. There are little animals playing with each other, or chasing each other.
