So i have a question. Is wow just getting that ‘difficult’ as a game? Am i just getting that old (32) or is the player base just that ‘new’ relatively speaking. Ive been playing wow on and off, mostly on, for 20 years now. Never has it felt so difficult to complete a ‘max threshold’ (10)key, let alone time it. Heroic pugs generally just fall apart at certain bosses. I see people 2 or 3 chesting 12s and sometimes it feels like a boss is just a wall on a +10.
At this point idk, in concept everything seems easy to me as ive been playing for 20 years but things just always seem to fall apart. I can go an entire night after work not managing to complete anything essentially wasting the 3 hours i get before bed.
It’s really up to you, there’s a heap of content for casuals who don’t want to take it seriously, and it just keeps scaling up from there. I must admit though, it does seem like the slide has been slowly drifting along and mid level content is getting harder and harder.
It’s not that difficult if people play at the level for them. The game tries to appeal to both e-sport Andies and delve daddies- whereas many other games it’s just one or the other.
I realized back in the day that old Mythic +10 (which would be Mythic +0 now) was my limit and I didn’t want the game to be any more challenging than that. But the game funneled people like me into Delves now, and I do enjoy them for the most part.
If you compare yourself to other people though and think you should have Mythic gear just to have it, you’re probably going to be really upset and disappointment at the game. While the game does have something for everybody, the 43982487943 tiers of difficulty levels they added seemed to be catered more to the top end rather than the other way around, and back then when there was just one difficulty level the game was a lot more easier seeming and inclusive, but it all boils down to not comparing yourself to others I think.
Because there are so many difficulty choices, it can be hard to find one’s ‘sweet spot’ I think- so for many people the game feels either too easy/trivial, or too challenging- instead of “Just right.”
Tbh if you look at how M+ has changed from Legion to TWW and especially the period between SL to TWW, you see blizzard is continually buffing the content for 3 expansions in a row now.
SL → loot amount and ilvl nerfs + class nerfs
DF → moved formerly m15 loot beyond m15
TWW → multiple buffs to m+ (tyrannical + fortified, +7 affix, aoe stun nerfs and what not)
So many times I’ve opened the game only to end up accomplishing nothing and just wasting what little free time I get. Here over maybe the last few days, if I find myself doing absolutely nothing for about 15 minutes (waiting for Q’s to pop, trying to decide what to play or what I want to do), I’ll just log off and make myself do something else.
I change my interests constantly, mainly because I “hit a wall” in some way or another that is going to take a considerable amount of time / external reading / research / video watching / waiting / practicing.
Much like many economies around the world these days, the middle class is shrinking, it’s mostly just the haves and the have-nots, with very little in the middle lol
I’m probably 10 times better of a player than I was when vanilla was out. Information to become good at this game is freely available online and the rotations are often simple enough to read and practice on dummies until you get the basic idea.
This is spot on. I know that there is no way on Azeroth that the 4 or 5 of us that are openly bad are the only folks self-aware.
Many folks can’t see their limitations because they are too busy blaming anything else for their shortcomings. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the fact is that Some players are better than others, and some players are even better than them. Some of us, just ain’t that good and like to play video games.
i think people’s perception of other people is super subjective and wrong most of the time. if you invest to find people of same game goals to achieve with close enough competence then you wouldn’t notice that , similar to TBC wow. when the doors opened to group up randomly then you connect with people that have different goals and competences . you are generalizing which is wrong. I would also argue that wow is not a job to be good at , it’s just a game and people enjoy it differently.
The key to playing WoW is understanding it is a virtual life. Crusades often move slowly in baby steps. Just know your goals and stay on your path. No matter how long it takes, it doesn’t matter. Often enough, once you do accomplish your goals… you might be bored and want to quit
So, if you like the way WoW feels, don’t be in a rush. Yes, decide your goals and set yourself on a path… stick to your direction, just a little bit each day even… and enjoy the journey
I think maybe a little bit more difficult than its been but not by much . I think im just getting too old and i really dont care about doing the harder content as i once did . I have a family now , and i have other things id rather dedicate my time to .
The problem is i love challenge. I love getting CE and doing +10s, the problem is im not sure if IM the problem, my pugs, or if i should lower my expectations because it just is getting that difficult
32 absolutely isn’t old, unless you have been seriously neglecting your health.
Lots of changes have been made between tanks, healers, how stops work, and the design of the dungeons themselves are not pug friendly. The content is more difficult without coordination for sure.
Also pugging has always been the roll of the dice. You can get an amazing group, an awful group, or a group that would of had potential if it wasn’t for that one player who just wouldn’t stop tunneling and getting one shot constantly.
