WoW dev tweet on class changes

I’m glad this topic is such a great joke to the team! I mean dang man! My class is 100% of what I do. Maybe the one spec seems small to the team, but if it’s MY spec it’s EVERYTHING to me!

There absolutely has to be more time spent on classes. There is almost nothing that sucks worse than when your class is bad. The loss of artifacts and legendaries is a problem, class balance is a problem, talent balance is a problem.

It’s not a darn joke! :frowning:

Oh boy… unsure what to say.

Last time I insulted PVP players I ended up with a forum ban.

Class changes are needed sure. But I’ll take a new BG too.

Shocking as it seems to be on the WoW team, both of these things are possible to happen. They are not mutually exclusive.

PvPers would probably get more excited for the content they are “I sleeping” through if they felt their classes were fun to play though. Not sure what point that dev thinks he’s making.

The teams who do artwork, level designs, etc. are not the same teams designing class mechanics and tuning.

I don’t think his tweet is accurate because WM has garnered A LOT of attention, but in general no… people aren’t going to talk about things added on top of what is already there (like a new BG or arena) as long as something isn’t taken away.

With class changes there will always be something taken away when a change is made whether it’s a number getting smaller or an ability disappearing (unless they’re just outright adding to it which no one really questions because like I said it’s like the bg/arena thing: aka no one was really upset by artifact abilities happening in Legion, but they were upset when they went away with BfA).

I think my logic is pretty sound. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Oh and ashran isn’t new. Is that the epic BG hes referring to? If they made it new they certainly didn’t advertise that in the 8.2 stream.

Poor guy tried to act human on twitter. He should know better.

Seriously, a WoW Dev tweeted that? After all the negative press and feedback and frustration that has been experienced and expressed by players? Especially over class design.

Sometimes I swear Blizzard doesn’t have a PR department at all.

They still let lore use his “private” twitter that still has the handle @dev(lol)lore without the lol.

Did he delete the tweet? Clicking on the link says the page does not exist and after finding his Twitter stuff the normal way, I don’t see this tweet. Either he didn’t like some sort of negative backlash from it or he might of gotten in trouble for it.

That’s pretty irrelevant. Just because they’re not working on class design doesn’t mean they can’t understand the community’s problems with class design. Making jokes in poor taste indicates they may not understand some of the things the community is upset about.

They wouldn’t be joking if they had lower subs than expected. As such, it’s safe to derive that these forums don’t represent a meaningful portion of the playerbase.

I think it’s joke worthy because if after 6 months you still don’t enjoy the spec you are playing, why not try something else? Classes are not objectively faulty.

Just because you don’t enjoy your spec or class doesn’t mean it absolutely needs to be fixed.

The ones I play, I absolutely love. I wish I had more time to play more. There are some specs I do not enjoy at all, so I just don’t play those ones.

And realistically, little has changed for most classes from legion. They just lost the artifact. A lot of specs actually got returning spells as well, even though a few lost stuff too.

Classes could absolutely be better, but if you dislike the one you are playing try another one. You can’t possibly dislike every single spec in the game and act like that’s exclusively blizzard’s issue.

Imagine typing all that unironically.

I don’t get the joke so I will just be outraged instead. Seriously I don’t get it.

Tweet is gone, he’s probably been summoned to Ion’s office for a fierce conversation.

Different departments to different jobs.
It’s ok to make light of things sometimes.

I’m a pickle!! Big reveal.

Been there done that. It never works.

Not true. You even said that in the same paragraph where some lost stuff and some stuff was added. Sometimes things that are added don’t make up for what was lost though.

No you’re absolutely right, it’s a me problem too… but I also stop going to some restaurants when they change the dish that I actually go there for.

Because it’s a role playing game and we invest a lot of time into our characters and want to play the role we chose to play in the first place?

Then all you need to do is to explain to them why do you feel bad about your class. If you do it in a coherent way, your feedback will be received. If you don’t and instead act like a crazy person, you will be bundled with all the other crazies and be mocked.

The loss of artifacts and legendaries is a problem, class balance is a problem, talent balance is a problem.

This is a great example of something extremely vague that doesn’t help at all. This is the vast majority of the feedback that they receive. Sorry but I think this is joke worthy.
