WoW+Dauntless Combat+VR = WoW 2.0

Anyone else interested?

I risk necro’ing the thread, but yes, I would be interested. I honestly dunno why people don’t talk about this though? Maybe because not many people have vr, and thus being incredibly niche no one talks about it?

I gernally dont like VR but dauntless combat would be dope.

because i want to sit at a computer and not put a VR headset

I mean you still are at the computer, but you’re active, while being in a world (that i assume) you enjoy.

You got the equation wrong. WoW x Dauntless Monetization = WoW 2.0

activision’s influnce forcing monetization schemes into every game under their group.

But you gotta admit wow VR would be interesting

Wow in VR sounds pretty fun tbh. I know it’s doable, I just don’t have the drive to make it work

I mean fighting face to face with the lich king in a first person perpective and killing him with your “actual hands.” with like 30 other players, or actually having free movement on flying mounts, even flying upside down.

For raiding it would probably be awful. Especially for melee. But for leveling it would be amazing. Imagine going into the wailing caverns with a VR set

They’d have to make the raids and dungeons work differently but yeah for leveling it would be mind blowing. But at least people who raid or do dungeons consistently will be extremely fit with the amount of movement they’d have to put in, ESPECIALLY the melee. So it’d be a healther to play game lol.

I’d feel that raids would take actual days to clear and would require some preperation in order for it to be done.

I will take a pass on the “dauntless combat” and “vr” options but I am ready for an modern WoW 2.

any reason as to pass on vr?

Just not a fan of it but in a few years I am sure it will have matured into a decent concept.

If I’m entirely honest, in order for wow to work efficently in vr, vr technologies would have to advance a bit before such things can be implimented.

With the new Oculus Quest VR is VERY accessible now.

VR is crap. I’ll pass.

And I say this as a relatively brand new Index VR owner.

VR games right now are pretty on the rails and limited. We’ll have to see where the technology advances in a few years before even thinking of doing anything remotely close to it. Not to mention many raids and dungeons are best done top down to see all mechanics, so VR and first person makes that very difficult.

I’m not big in a lot of first person games; I prefer Skyrim over the shoulder because I like to see my character.

Also I’m not at all fond of Dauntless. The combat is so janky and boring compared to its predecessor that it was based off of that I would not at all be interested in it.

There’s a VR fly through ofDalaran that’s good, I would love to walk around Org or SW, down the Ally’s and in shops etc. Combat rn is a bit clunky for VR, I’ve been messing around with Skyrim, and though it imersive, the combat is mainly thrash your controllers around till it dies, the bow is pretty cool tho

A lot of aspects of WoW would have to be rebuilt from the ground up to support VR. Fights would have to be rebuilt, ground targeting would have to be rebuilt, the number of abilities would have to be retooled. The list is endless.

While many do find Dauntless to be fun, it wouldn’t work that will with most of the classes in the game.

VR has its uses, but too many people try and shoehorn it into everything thinking that it’ll automatically improve the product. Sometimes simple is what works best.
