WoW Crashing when locking voltage with 3070

I was experiencing issues with my GPU and took some advice from NVidia to lock in the Mhz and Voltage of my 3070 to 2100mhz and 1000mV using MSI Afterburner. That fixed the issues I was having when the card dropping my display and resetting, but now WoW is crashing as soon as I get into the game world. I will get a few flickers to desktop and then usually the error " World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration."

I did some research on the error and some forums recommended that I go into the compatibility section of the .exe and click run as admin and turn off full-screen optimization. I did that, still the same issue. I also swapped to DX11 and it still crashes.

When I return the speeds to default WoW runs fine but then I run into the other issue I have with the 3070 drivers. Any help as to why WoW doesn’t like my locked-in clock settings would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Grazzert,

Overclocking or adjusting clock speed / voltage from the defaults can always be risky when it comes to running game applications, as they can be pretty sensitive to those changes.

Have you tried disabling Ray Tracing or lowering the graphics settings a bit while using the locked in settings?

How about disabling the Rivatuner Statistics overlay that comes with MSI Afterburner? Sometimes overlays like that can cause crashes.

You really shouldn’t need to lock in settings to get a card to work properly, so maybe there is some deeper issue that’s going on with the card or power delivery from the system. Unfortunately that is all a bit outside of the scope of what we can troubleshoot officially on the forums here.
