WoW Crashes when I click on play "Access Violation"

Bought a new computer last week, but when I click on play, the game opens and imediatelly crashes afterwards.

“Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION - The instruction at ‘0x0000000000000000’ referenced memory at ‘0x00000000000000000’. The Memory could not be ‘executed’.
ProcessID: 9680
ThreadID: 7876”

The number of the process ID and ThreadID changes everytime I try to open the game again.

My setup is Gigabyte Aorus Elite B550M, 2x ram kingstom fury 16gb, AMD Ryzen 7 5700x and RTX 3060 geforce 12gb GDDR6.

So far I’ve tried to:

  • Repair the game
  • Uninstall, delete everything and install again
  • Open as administrator
  • Tried the windows memory test, everything ok on that front
  • Tried to repair using DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow
  • Closed all other applications outside of Bnet

I’m really at a loss, could really use some help here :frowning:

They’re not looking into it. If they were, Maintenance would’ve repaired the situation.

If they were actually looking into it, maintenance wouldn’t be for 1 hour every day but would go until the issue was repaired.

Nothing but another failure on Blizzards part… nothing new after my 20yrs of playing. What is new, is that refund they’re gonna give my Senator to give back to me.

Not answering the customer base and stealing money. (If I pay for 30 days, I’m getting 30days. NOT even 29.5.

It’s always the folks that have no responsibilities that allow others to continue to walk all over their hard-earned TIME AND MONEY.

When customers get tired of being walked on, they’re gonna do something about it.

I’ve seen this information, but my problem is slightly different. In my case, I can’t even open the game to change any configuration.

Reset in game options inside of the Battle.net. desktop app.

I wonder if this is also why I can’t run WoW anymore. I get no crashes but I get an error when I try to boot up the game from the retail folder saying “Invalid access to memory location.”

Maybe. You can reset graphics settings via the Bnet client like Btq mentioned.

Tried everything suggested here and around the internet, nothing seems to work. Guess I’ll just refund TWW and wait until it’s fixed.
