When will this be added to the game. Will controller support work with wow classic as well.
Gamepad support will come with the prepatch this coming Tuesday. You can read all the patch notes at the link below.
Classic will not support gamepads.

dont bet on being able to actually play the game with it though. its really bad without addons.
Where is this option?
I did’nt really see it and was wanting to test it out on exiles isle.
I have no intention of messing around with it personally, so I can’t say for certain. But according to the article linked below, you’ll have to enter /console GamePadId 1 into your chat box, and then proceed to assign key bindings to the various buttons on the controller.
I checked around and I can’t find an official support article available for this feature as of yet.
If you can’t figure out how to get it to work, perhaps check in with Tech Support. They may have more info on how to get it going for you.

It works surprisingly well, and you can map your gamepad buttons to the same keybindings as your keyboard. And if you want to keep a button free, add /targetenemy to your macros to make them auto target your nearest enemy.
I played around with it for about 3 hours yesterday and it’s very comfortable for just grinding, running old dungeons and even world quest. Not sure if I’d recommend it for any serious raiding or PvP, but it works great for casual play. I’m using an xbox one controller and the game automatically recognized it as soon as I typed in the console command.
