Love this!
This video is amazing! It’s so great to see them all like little kids falling in love with the game again.
I really, really hope that they all re-watch this video and take away a very important note: they were all inexperienced but passionate about creating a game they wanted to play.
I’m willing to bet that level of inexperience lent them to creating some of the most original and exciting aspects of gameplay, quests, levelling and talents for classes. Because they weren’t bogged down by the yoke of “this is how it’s done,” they could literally try anything that sounded fun to them.
I hope that Classic is successful and not only has a healthy life span but also reinvigorates the current devs for Retail to stop and think about that when they’re creating new content- is this the game I want to play? Am I only doing this because it’s expected? What would really be exciting and different, even if it doesn’t fall into the ‘traditional’ gaming perspective?
This level of passion and creativity happened because Blizzard gave them free reign to play. If that was given back to them, Retail could have a new expansion that brings players back to experience the game they love all over again.
This was such a great video! I would love to hear more about the developer’s earliest memories of creating WoW
Hahaha…only they didn’t have to lug their computers with them !
Please tell me Jeff is coming back to design Classic + or a CLASSIC MMORPG
Going home again.
Thank you Blizzard. I cant wait to go home again.
The line about taking a flight path for the first time. My exact feelings. That was the first time I realized just how big the world was, and even then it was something like Stormwind to IF, so it was much bigger still.
Great video. They have every right to be happy over their creation. Would have been great to be working with that team back then.
I KNOW!! I was waiting for someone to own up to being “the guy” who created and tuned the pillagers.
Oh, the tears and lamentations trying to get that compass (or was it a pocketwatch?) out of that chest in the burned out house…surrounded by pillagers and looters. It was madness. I want to hug that guy and then shake him and say, “You made me crazy! And we love you.”
Can’t wait to go home!
It was definitely the compass for Baros Alexston! The pocketwatch was for Farmer Furlbrow.
Probably a hunter.
Seriously though, great video. Nice seeing the emotion and joy from those original developers.
I love how Tom Chilton says he has the same considerations about which class to play as he did 15 years ago, and that there isn’t an absolutely right answer.
Ends the thought with “Which is probably a good sign.”
Each class had an identity, real reasons to choose or discard according to what you as a player wanted.
“They thought they did… and they did.”
The feels … the feels are real.
Good video. Now if Monday would just get here.
Now we just need blizzard to upload the old WoW site back and youtube videos about wow in 4:1 240p
Me too. For me it was the first hippogryph ride out of the Nelf starting zone. I’ll never forget that amazing soaring feeling of gliding over this amazing world.
I have goose bumps!
Thank you so much Blizzard team for this video! Looking forward to re-exploring Azeroth with you all!
Happy to see wow get it’s just due. The original I mean.
Wishing Blizzard every success. <3
I loved this video! I love the fact that they can see why we wanted Classic and why we’re so hyped to play it again.
Thank you for this!
