Wow Classic - Very High Power Usage

When I play Classic, I’ve noticed that my laptop cooling fans spin like crazy, and when I open up Task manager, the Wow Classic app is at:
20% CPU
588MB Memory
0Mb/s Disk
0.1Mbps Network
50% GPU (GPU Engine 0 - 3D)

Power Usage: Very High
Power Usage Trend: Very High

Like I would expect this sort of thing from a game like Sea of Thieves or Battlefield 1 that have bulkier PC requirements, but Classic is a 15 year old game that should be able to run on any potato computer.

My computer is also a higher-end laptop, so I don’t understand what is happening.
I also tried turning off all other programs, including closing the Battlenet app, still the same thing.

Here are my specs:
System Manufacturer ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
System Model TUF GAMING FX504GD_FX80GD
System Type x64-based PC
Processor:
Intel® Core™ i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2201 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 12.0 GB

I’ve also tried changing the Processing Power of the computer, and the only thing that has remotely an effect is when it goes down to 5% power. Then the fans don’t spin as much.

I’ve also tried reducing the graphics to lowest settings, but still it just keeps chugging power.

Hi Enabrann

Let’s have a look at a HWMonitor

Download HWMonitor here:

Free download is along the left side of page - called “Setup - English”

Open it on desktop - go play Classic for a few minutes fight some mobs then tab out. Take a screenshot of the tool. Scroll down on tool to get the rest of the outputs then take another screenshot.

Upload those to Imgur or a similar site. I use http://postimages.org/

(Remove the beginning of the URL link to post on the forum - the http portion should work)

or place the link between ` next to your 1 key will look like this:

Thanks but I think I found out the problem, my Asus laptop was over heating because it was on a surface that blocked air from entering the vents.

So I put these sticky note “blocks” under it, and its fine now

Another use for Sticky Notes - it never ends. Good to see Enabrann
