At any rate, for the actual 3 hour period of the real stress test, I predict a dumpster fire. Servers won’t be able to handle it since they’re opening it up to such a large number.
As soon as one streamer gets in though, we can entertain ourselves with “streamer privilege” posts.
The first post apparently updates according to the timezone the reader is in. For me it says 11pm Berlin time. That’s 10pm in London. Not exactly in the middle of the night.
But yes, I understand the concept of test realms. I just wanted to point out that standing on the outside looking in can be quite frustrating and people being angry should be expected.
They don’t care about other people, only themselves. They have their access, they’re happy and they’re happy to deny people the same access, yet they call us entitled.
This is partly the issue. Of course we want to be included in the development process and help to test and report on issues with the game.
This just shows your ignorance. Did you know that OC realms run on US time zones? If in doubt, make a character, walk to Darnassus and listen to the bell gongs on the hour. That immediately means that if you’re raiding on a night, depending on the time, things like the Night Elf racials might not work in accordance with how they should because the day/night cycle is off, for BfA at least.
If you are playing at midnight local time, it will actually be daytime in game, it will be 7am or something like that.
For Classic that means that things like the attack on Southshore will be at unsociable hours and not correspond to local time.
Now everything Blizzard has done so far implies that they intend to have all of their servers in the US. There’s absolutely nothing at all to suggest they’re going to have any EU servers. Why put so much effort into layering, unless you plan to put the entire US/OC/EU population on the same realms?
It’s great testing out your NA servers all the time, and yeah it’s great that they can probably copy over everything they need to any potential EU servers, but they haven’t and aren’t saying whether they even plan on testing any EU based equipment. Are you really going to launch a game with EU servers without having even tested them first? The fact that they’re not testing them, implies there aren’t going to be any.
For role players, are they really going to be happy with immersion breaking things like it being night time in game when it’s daytime that they’re actually playing. Are they going to stay up to unsociable hours to run a daytime event server time when it’s night time locally?
Speculation, maybe, but their actions point more towards having only US servers than they do to having EU ones as well.
I mean at the very basic level it’s just plain wrong to prioritise or neglect one player base over another.
What makes NA feedback more valuable than EU feedback? It’s common knowledge that the beta is heavily NA populated (now you’ve got people posting that there were hardly any people queuing for AV during the AV test during EU daytime hours) so for many of us unworthy peons, the stress tests are an opportunity to test for bugs etc., up to the level cap. Why is out feedback and input legitimately worth less than NA players? The fact that we’re excluded at every turn makes it look as though our feedback is completely unwanted, and why, without trolling, would that be the case? Why is that right?
These are just a few issues and by no means all of them, but I’m trying to eat my dinner and explain these basic concepts to you.
Trolling, you know what s/he meant, that the realms will be open for 48 hours for play after the initial login server game.
Blizzard is leaving the realms open as a ‘thankyou’ for attending the test, and to see what other information they can get. However:
This is the period that Blizzard cares about. And for the majority of the EU, its a time that’s unable to generate the same amount of numbers as the US.
They aren’t trolling. The entire point of the -testing- is for the 3 hour period noted. The other 45 hours sound far less important for testing. It is worth pointing out.
The whole argument about EU being “left out” makes absolutely no sense at all.
First of all EU/NA physical servers are completely different machines. It would make no sense at all to stress test 2 systems at the same time from a monitoring point of view.
Second of all, as said above, being them 2 separate, but equal at their core, systems, they can test one region (the one they actually live in and compliant with their working hours) more effectively and apply the results to the other regions.
Adding EU players won’t help the stress tests, cause it won’t contribute to the same machine stress at all.
Also it’s really beyond my comprehension the reason why people cry over a missed opportunity of staying queued (if being able to log in at all) for hours. It’s a machine test. It serves the only purpose of giving Blizzard stability and load data.
EU < NA? gimme a break.
bottom line note: I’m an ex EU player who moved to the states. Not only I had to start from scratches but I also couldn’t carry over my PURCHASED MOUNTS, GAMES, LOOT etc. I literally had to re-buy world of warcraft, a brand new copy. This just to show how disconnected the 2 systems are. Not only from an IT standpoint, but also for economics, regulations etc.
Stop crying, wait a little bit, be patient and appreciate Blizzard which, for once, is doing their best to gave us player a wonderful experience.
Can you link to this fact? As far as I am aware Classic hasn’t launched yet, so there is NO way you can know whether it will have a larger playerbase in the US or EU.
Ah, okay. You had me confused for a minute. So 11pm is indeed my time, not your time. It still isn’t that late in the night that nobody will show up. And honestly, I really don’t think Blizzard really cares what time of day it is for their testers.
It’s far more likely that not everyone will fit on one realm, so they simply didn’t invite everyone. And having a little open us beta for two days is kind of cute - for everyone in that region.
It’s just him/her arguing for the sake of it. They’re fully aware that the first stress test, that included EU players, was 1am-3am CEST and was very popular despite being at that time.
