Trying log into test server… 2.5 hours
Completing two quests… 20 minutes
Server going offline after all that… priceless

I was so hyped after receiving the email. I even hyped others up about it and sat around for hours disconnecting. Not even once being able to create a character. While seeing the Egotistical streamers and all their subs getting in with little to no issues. 2 1/2 hours my day wasted trying to “Stress Test” the login phase. Hype turns to resentment. Another thing… In the post you said you would shut it down after 2 hours but that the realm would be availible til thursday… Not very specific and kinda just ruining peoples day as most your customers planned some their free time today around getting to level 5 an testing classic because 99% who arent streamers or subscribers to streamers didnt get access to beta.

The people selected for the stress test beta still have access to the server until tomorrow, it may just appear offline because there are so many people beating on it trying to get in right now. The server being offline is what I experienced most of tonight despite streamers being online, so it doesn’t mean it’s actually offline.

Nah, they actually took it offline and it hasn’t come back up yet for some reason.

Could never get past the character creation screen. Kept getting Character Creation Timed Out.

Super successful yes, there was a wealth of information obtained and the most important aspect is battering those servers with login attempts, realm attempts character attempts etc. The 1-5 is not actually all that important or helpful for this particular test.

As far as what you’ll be told for the next one, you won’t get clarification or be clue’d in. Because as you said if people realized 1-5 and live play wasn’t the main reason for testing, they’d be less likely to help and that HURTS the game and it’s launch. The hype, carrot on a stick and want of these people to log in so closely mimics LIVE day 1 server problems, you cannot be “honest” and get the same results. For the best data this is how it had to be. Blizzard never made any promises or was dishonest truly, they never guaranteed anything, This is the best for the game guys, understand this is what stress testing is.

Couldn’t even get to character creation and gave up after 3 attempts.

I’m usually one to be understanding and logical about things, but tonight I was told I could play a toon up to lvl 5. I would even understand if I dc’d several times since it is a stress test. Instead I wasted 3+ hours on a week night trying to login when I could have actually played something else and recharged for work tomorrow. This kinda made me feel like I’m still dealing with the Blizzard that was the reason I left wow, and not the one I thought had realized listening to and respecting their customers was in their best interest.

I hear what you’re saying…that’s it, I just hear what you’re saying. Obviously, you’re probably correct. Still just sucks for people like me who wasted all but 20 minutes TRYING to get in before I finally did. Then running around for a bit only to be hit with a server restart.

According to the @WarcraftDevs twitter post, which links this post… https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/wow-classic-stress-test-1/178282:

“We’ll be actively monitoring the server, sending server messages, etc. during the 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. PDT period and it’s important to have as many people as possible log in during this window! The stress test realm itself will be available until Thursday, May 23 (becoming unavailable around 6:00pm PDT).”

Now, I don’t know if this is just me, but it seems fairly clear here that the realm will be online until 6PM PDT on May 23rd, so after the first couple hours we should still be able to play.

Blizzard, perhaps you could comment? Are hot-fixes being applied or is the stress test not going to be up all day?

While I don’t care all that much for Classic (I mean really, I was there the first time around…) I’m disappointed that my portion of the stress test was just me staring at various parts of the login process for several hours, and not actually stepping foot into the game itself even for a few minutes.

LOL at all those that thought that they would get quality time in during a stress test! y’all dont seem to understand what it is they are testing.
