Got to play for a bit earlier today, was a pretty smooth experience, outside of a few hiccups.
The first was two seemingly-random disconnects. Both of them reset most, if not all of my interface option changes, even if they were made several minutes beforehand.
The second was when I was whacking away at an Adult Plainstrider and it randomly phased out, presumably due to a blip with the layering technology. Outside of those two things, it was smooth on my end.
I was able to get in and play for several hours today. There was some lag, and some disconnects, but nothing too bad. A few of the disconnects caused loss of location, XP, and interface settings upon logging back in however. I was able to level 8 of the 9 classes to max (5) except for a priest. I leveled one of each race. I was able to test each starter zone, quests, class abilities, combat, etc fairly thoroughly. There were just a few minor things to report. Thank you for the opportunity to take part in this initial stress test. I look forward to the next round as well! Would LOVE an actual Beta invite too
THANKS!

Ok so you realize its to test not only game play but being able to log in and actully fix issue such as time outs dcs and everything else that comes with millions of ppl trying to get in at the same time so with a bit of luck it wont happen on release
Geez dude, I was just letting people know that it was showing offline because they were doing a restart. Where’d this “if your dream is 1-5” stuff come from. By the way it did come back up shortly after. Also played on the stress server the next evening for hours. GMs were spawning bosses all over the place, it was fun.
The time for the stress needs to apply to the most busiest times for other servers needs to be reviewed. 11am-1pm NZT for the AEST time zones are the quietest times for the Oceanic servers.
They wanted to see how many people could be crammed into a small area to see how the server performed when those people also were doing things. The Hogger (and boss level spawns) helped do that, particularly given what some of those boss level mobs also did to the server, more yummy data for the devs.
But the reality is come launch, not everybody is going to remain cooped up in the imemdiate starter areas. They’re going to spread out, they’re going to explore. They’re going to be doing all kinds of zany things. So there needed to be some players doing that as well.
Other data that would be/will likely be useful to them is large groups of people moving around on the realm while other large groups exist elsewhere. As the closing hour of the Stress Test server being up demonstrated, some Streamers are particularly effective at getting very large groups together, and moving them around on the server.
As annoying as they may be, they are a rather potent testing tool in their own right, even if they don’t always do what the devs would like for them to be doing. Data is data, and that’s helpful without regard to who caused it to happen.
Things broke, the stress test worked, they know they either have a configuration issue, or insufficient hardware provisioned. Time will tell on if the logs they have allow them to figure which was which. We might have an answer this coming week when they do it over again.
