Would ask that Blizzard please address the exploit some malicious players are using to trick Hardcore players on PVE realms to flag themselves as PVP. For example, a Horde rogue flags himself PVP, goes to a lower level alliance zone such as Westfall, and uses Gnomish Cap of Mind Control to mind control a creature that an Alliance player is in the process of fighting. This instantly flags them into PVP and the rogue comes in and ganks. It is extremely difficult to prevent, even watching for signs of mind control. Clearly this is an exploit being used to grief players, particularly those attempting the Road to Ragnaros hardcore challenge. Blizzard : please fix this so that mind controlled creatures cannot flag players PVP. Already over a dozen players I know of have been victims. It is clearly against TOS, interfering in game play and enjoyment of the game.
So they just using the game mechanics to kill people in game that is dedicated to PvP?
Damn that’s pretty messed up. Hopefully Blizz fixes that. I rolled on a PvP server and not doing the hardcore challenge but i can see how frustrating that must be for others attempting the challenge.
It sucks but if they are doing road to ragnaros they are encouraged to record sessions or just provide proof of a grieving death. they can then submit it to the community to get a pass on their death.
that sounds like a personal problem
Except the issue is these people are playing on a PVE server where it should be their choice to engage in PVP, even in contested zones.
I would deff consider this a grief as it serves no purpose except to end someones HC character. These guys using the MC trick are hardly going after normal players and almost exclusively do this to HC players.
Blizzard is gonna nerf the mind control cap soon.
There’s some weird Ironman hate around here so this isn’t a surprise. I haven’t seen any bosses getting yoinked lately at least.
They really should just add the retail system where it pops a confirmation box before you accidently flag yourself.
If I’m on a pve realm and I’m not flagged it’s because guess what, I do not want to pvp or deal with people trying to grief.
Thanks for the tip. It’s inspired me to go gnomish engineering.
I’ll agree with you there…
They are nerfing it in the next couple of days LUL, confirmed.
I personally have not experienced this. Many in my guild have, however. Anyone who has tried Hardcore classic in Season of Mastery (see rules on classichc site) knows how painful it is to lose their character, especially more than once.
But that’s the point of hardcore. If you aren’t capable of paying a basic level of attention to your surroundings, you probably shouldn’t be playing hardcore lol
PvP realms are dedicated to PvP. Not PvE realms.
Normally I’m with ya… But on PvP servers all should be allowed.
On PvE the people literally want nothing to do with pvp. It shouldn’t even let you flag tbh.
Not and exploit
110% a grief though.
And they wait to see a caster launch a cast on the mob then they use the MC cap while the spell is flying.
There is no awareness that will help you there.
Fair enough. I’m not totally sure of what is happening to them? (That can’t be avoided?)
On a PVE realm a player should only get flagged if
- entering a battleground
- manual flagging themselves
- attacking another flagged person or npc
Since with this scenario players are attacking a pve mob, it definitely seems like a massive bug which is being used to grief ‘Soul of Iron’ players
