and precisely why we should not get world buffs reintroduced for “old tier” raids. This is just another way to put us directly back into bondage.
What the loot system will insure is that Main tanks will get gear, then the people who picked the HIGHEST DPS classes next, then the healers. So the warriors, rogues, mages, and priests will do fine. Those hunters, warlocks, shamans, and druids will just be happy to tag along I guess. The “lesser” classes will be removed and replaced soon as the loot drama starts.
THE GREAT LOOT DRAMA WAR of 2021! calling it now (lol)
guessing most specs will still be useless then?
One change suggestion for the pvp system, not the sole change perhaps, but I think a reduction in the required HKs to enter the pvp pool is in order.
Perhaps 1 HK down from 15 HKs, this will provide a natural boost to the pvp pool by virtue of Wpvp etc.
I think some slight additional tweaks are warranted, but it should still not be easy to achieve.
The TBC quest exp won’t be enough, because every Draenei/Belf still dungeon spammed or mage boosted to get to 60 in 1 week.
I mob tagged my belf up to level 20+ in less than 8 hours. The prepatch opened very late Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, and I was in AQ40 Thursday night (3 sleepless nights).
Mob tagging MUST be addressed alongside mage boosting, otherwise that will become the service instead of mage boosting.
use all the caps you want, doesn’t make you correct. Keep huffing the copium

are you forgetting how vanilla loot works? stuff exclusively for hunters, warlocks, shamans, and druids will just drop.
not all specs will be raid viable. it’s just how vanilla is.
yes. and that’s a good case on having Tbc patch at launch for SoM. More classes balanced out, more tanks classes for raids. even keep the Blood Elves and Draenei. Shut the Dark portal and jewel crafting. I like the no changes. but this maybe version would be better off maybe even allow at end of 12 month to move past the portal then to a mega tbcc server. only a thought tho. killing 2 leveling expansions with 1 season.
This season of mastery thing is a far, FAR cry from vanilla.
I like and agree with 95% of the things you say, and the other 5% I’m hoping to change with my unrelenting charisma and posting.
How does Blizzard feel about the fact that removing world buffs and increasing boss health will have the side effect of further alienating some specializations (i.e. retribution and balance) from doing endgame content than they already were?
something no one wants to hear
I love the ideas of faster leveling and no world buffs…
… but as someone who went months without seeing certain items drop in WoW Classic, it would be extremely unfun to not get those items for whole raid tiers.
Not increasing the loot chance just feels like it doubles down too hard on those of us who are “always unlucky.”
I would highly suggest reconsidering loot drops because finishing the “Season” with 3 pieces of tier1, 4 pieces of tier 2, and 2 pieces of AQ loot will feel rather incomplete.
“Sorry you were so unlucky in raid drops… but Jimmy over there has 6 piece tier1, so we’re going to take him to our BWL run instead.”
My worry is that the new meta will still end up being: stack warriors and rogues because they can’t go oom, and only die when healers go oom.
So raid comp will lean towards
warriors
rogues
feral cats (melee dps to innervate healers)
healers
warlocks because they life tap for mana and healer fills their HP bar again.
Not significantly it doesn’t lol. Losing world buffs is a MASSIVE nerf for every single player, gaining debuff cap removal is a TINY buff for one or two classes. This isn’t even mentioning less loot and more boss HP. The whole SoM does not pass the common sense smell test at all.
No loot drop rate changes and a decreased timeline. This makes no sense - either increase the drop rate or slow down the phase schedule.
Essentially those who aren’t lucky enough to get drops in raids will become disengaged eventually.
It’s meant to be challenging so everyone doesn’t tackle it with their BiS on all 40 raiders.
So our characters at the end of the 12 months when this goes live might disappear? Thats how this reads to me and I’d love to know more. If the characters we work on for that year (One Live Servers) do disappear or get deleted, I have no interest in playing on a Mastery server
Edit for clarity. Yes I’ve beta tested before and understand how that works with toons getting wiped unless specified otherwise
