You might want to look at a population density map of the USA and educate yourself.

Uh, it’s an accurate statement. Central has slightly more in raw terms vs Eastern, but Central is far wider and spread out, and Mountain doesn’t do anything to help move the center of US population away from New England.

Well, the last time someone posted census metrics here, it was. I can’t be bothered to go back and find it though, so sure EST is a bit bigger than CST. It doesn’t change the centerpoint of US population.

Regardless, the point that Katerina was making still stands, and is actually reinforced by the EST being more prevalent. It was in response to someone complaining that they should have more Central servers.

East vs West is because of latency differences, but East vs Central is largely irrelevant for latency, and most people are used to hearing “Nine Eight Central” on TV shows etc, so it makes perfect sense to use EST not CST.

The timezone doesn’t affect latency, it doesn’t change group times, and it’s only 1 hour different, in a region who is used to hearing both Eastern and Central times.

The ‘mean center’ for the US population would be somewhere in the middle, sure. But that is because the overwhelming majority is on the East and West coasts, with damn near nobody in the middle, except for Texas.

Completely agree… I would’ve expected more PvP servers. They have underestimated how many people will be playing WoWC. I have friends who play ally and friends who play horde, like MANY players in WoW. The servers will not be cross realmed, and you also can’t have both a horde and alliance character on a PvP server. There is not many viable options so perhaps they should add more servers.

I disagree. They don’t know how many will play. They will add new servers as the old one’s fill up. When they didn’t anticipate was the pile-on to a single server.
