On the flip side, lots of people don’t want to touch pservers because they’re shady, unstable & unreliable. However these same people will gladly pay to play on official servers.

And you have to remember that there’s a couple of million people already paying for access which includes these servers. If even a quarter of them want to regularly play WoW Classic, we’re boned.

Not really, “population center” of the US is in Missouri. With a heavy skew favoring the Eastern Time Zone over Central, after that the population is rather sparse in Mountain time, until you hit the West Coast or pacific time Zone. It sucks for the Central Time Zone, but everyone in North America(aside from Alaska) is +/- 1 hour from their own time zone.
And since when did server time zones matter much for what most players do in game? It’s all about your social network(s).

Not only is this an impossible standard to meet, it’s incredibly stupid and you should feel bad for typing it out in public.
Do you honestly spend your time in-game chastising someone for naming themselves something you don’t think is appropriate? If you do, grow up. If you don’t, you don’t get to start now because you want to join the pile on.
Literally nobody says “Boy that realm name just sounds attractive.” To be honest, that sounds like the sort of thing your “mostly young guys” would care about. There’s nothing worse about those names than any other potential name they could have come up with.
This just comes down to a bunch of nerds deciding that their opinion is the only good opinion. Grow up.

So ‘You heard it here first’, unless they’re rapidly adding more servers during character creation, layering naysayers are probably right about “all of phase 1”.

Eh, what I’ve seen from the stress tests tell me that they’ll be fine. Most of my friends list didn’t even bother with the stress tests, or care about classic. Most are just going to check it out and that’s it. Even during the stress test launches are telling. Apart from the massive wave at the start of each test, it really dies down by the end.

the number of servers needs an explanation. because if it means “hey we’re just going to layer the sh*t out of these servers indefinitely to cope with player numbers” then the backlash is going to be massive

That’s the same profile for every beta ever. People get all excited, then when the grind leans in, they slow down because all the progress will be wasted.
There’s literally 20 minutes left before the characters are wiped. I didn’t log on again this morning, because I got my addon working last night.

He’s definitely going PvP but said he won’t let anyone see what server he rolls on at first to stop a mass of people following him right off the bat. If he’s smart he’ll roll on an Eastern server as it’ll be closer to where he lives. But Whitemane is the only good PvP realm name so who knows. Avoid a PvP realm and you should be safe.

That’s not even enough realms for 100,000 players. A conservative amount is 250k and it could be over 500k easy at launch.
