WoW Classic Official Hardcore Servers

Most peoples interest in this are of a PVE nature, some Griefer interest - but mostly people want to see if they can either get to 60, or see what finally gets them in some Raid down the line.

I’d like to suggest something simple to adjust the faction imbalance inherent in PVE for this game mode.

First and foremost: Chromie goes back in time and influences an early recruitment of Draenei and Blood Elf factions to their respective factions. Moving up the timelines with original Vanilla - when portals opened or after Kel’Thuzad fell in Classic.

This will allow:

-Slightly longer DPS sustain for “meme” hybrid specs through blessings, seals and totems - a slight boon to all.
-Easier to find a healer, easier to find a dungeon tank.
-Will make the lore of loot drops more sensical: Paladin and Shaman gear dropping in Raids - somehow Nefarian tells his lackys to hide Ten Storms under their beds when an Alliance Raid enters his lair?
-Keeping it fresh. A small change can really turn the world on it’s head: Can you imagine with Alliance being on Ossirian the Unscarred and using Grounding totem to protect your tank from being swept up in Cyclone? Being Horde and tossing a Hand of Protection on that foolhardy mage that bit off more than he can chew? Or when you’re on the character select screen and find yourself struggling with the eternal debate : Windfury or Blessings?

And most of all: Faction balance for dungeons and raids!

It won’t matter which side you choose and all Hardcore players will have the same inherent problems to overcome. It will be the most accurate litmus test in terms of long term accomplishments within Hardcore. Alliance won’t be the primary and best decision for people interested in Hardcore end game raiding - they will now share that throne.

Do people even really want Hardcore servers though? Let’s be honest with ourselves.

Yes.

Yes they do.

I ask because I look at the current unofficial hardcore community and all I see is a bunch of people clamoring for second chances, people who don’t really want to play a 1 life gameplay style.

There’s definitely a lot of that.

I think it’s mostly because of griefers tho, the community, the shame, the risk - that’s the big thing. Secondly is people not wanting to admit “it’s over”. Having an official server that forces it to “be over” will be a great move.

People hiding on-top of Flightpath guards or popping up out of stealth, naming themselves the same as an NPC in the area, duel request to force an tab/auto, people kiting powerful NPC’s to lower areas was definitely thought of and a surprisingly large amount of the total deaths.

In the fact you only live once will dramatically tone down griefing. I think there is also a lot of ways they can find a way to mitigate those on top of that. Hardcore WoW will be very successful.

Definitely a lot of people, both hardcore and non hardcore want the servers.

Non-hc want them to get the hc people off of theirs, as the solo-self found pop tend to clog up quest hubs, especially low level, and don’t group or contribute to the economy or team atmosphere. So a lot of non-hc advocate for their own server as well.

Hc obviously want them to have a like-minded place to play. It also will help to elminate some of the need for the addon and people can play different variances, plus having its own economy and a slew of other benefits.

The market is good to have one at this time and I think population will be justified. Time will tell if it will last though, but for now it is definitely warranted and certainly wanted, despite what people in the community behave like.

When WoW was announced back in early 2000s, the first question I asked was, “Is there a HardCore mode?” Of course the answer was “no”.

But now there is hope for an official version, and maybe a chance to enthuse another generation to what exactly HardCore brings to the table. In Diablo HC, the saying is… “once you go HC you never go back”, and that is for good reason.

HC is a completely different mindset… one that, lately, people seem to have lost. It’s true survival, and tests you under the highest of pressure. It forces you to look for every single advantage you can get. It is an adrenaline rush that is addicting. And finally, it’s the best (and most brutal) way to learn from your mistakes.

Playing HC Diablo, for me, wasn’t just the only way to play the video game. It was the on another level of gaming, that taught me real world lessons and hardened me for real world experiences.

yes and no, hardcore wow should be nice but no with perma dead when even when you’re flying you can die because of the dismount bug, griefers, DDoS, rollbacks, etc. DROP your gear MAYBE be a best option or 1 life per day, but people will instant quit when their lvl 40+ character get deleted without appealing.

Most of the streams are friends with the mods who made the addon, and just have their death waved when they die.

Its an inside job.

Though what are peoples feedbacks on balancing Horde/Alliance PVE hardcore through this method?

Just ask for a TBC Era server.
Keep it simple for Blizz. Help them help you.

yes… they do.

and are easy to implement too.

win-win

Dont like the 70 talents.

Consider the positives (and the negatives) that you may not even considered:

  1. The community it builds within that HC guild.
  2. The adrenaline rush that you get trying to help your fellow HC guildee while in a Sholomance pull “gone-wrong”.
  3. The absolute pristine and viable Auction House economy.
  4. Annihilation of the botting business
  5. The relevance of profession choices

Negatives:

  1. handling appeals due to disconnects/bugs.
  2. No PvP (unless perhaps they allow death in bgs)
  3. ?

aw
but i can empathize
i don’t like those races

Ironic that people want an anti social game mode, but RDF is taboo.

As someone who dabbles in both HC but mainly plays non-HC, people definitely want HC servers (myself included).
HC players have currently just co-opted an RP server for their official HC server (which I’m sure isn’t all that great for the people who actually want to RP).
If an actually HC server exists (with it’s own ruleset/mechanics), everyone will go there. It’s honestly just a win-win.

Don’t worry.
Someone will be by soon to let you know that we don’t exist and our expectations are moot.

Which is unfortunate because I feel like HC players are one of the reasons why era is even “popping off” right now. I’ve never been serious about HC and I’ve just played a bit for the heck of it, but the HC community on era servers is like a huge chunk of the era community right now it seems.

i will not play with draeni / blood elves. never. not even once. :expressionless:
