First off, i want to acknowledge that people, me included are excited to soon be able to return to an immersive epic version of WoW that we haven't seen since Vanilla.
But, Blizzard has an opportunity to bring back the epic scale of WoW in a whole new way. During Vanilla, The Blood elves existed in the law, Gilneas was part of the map. We had knowledge of where the Wild Hammer Dwarfs lived and we knew where Northrend was.
What i would hope, is that Blizzard take this opportunity to bring about an epic game where the Burning Crusade never came back, allow us to travel to Northrend and Pandara, have the Wargon and Bloodelves as a playable race for Horde and Alliance. allow us to go to Hyjal and the broken Isles.
But keep the experience that of Vanilla, have those rep grinds to be able to pass through the to wintergrasp without the Timbermaul attacking. Dont have LFR or sharding. Have month long world events to open up AQ and beat back the undead.
What "I" want to see, is the weather change as i am going through Darkshore, or get caught in a snow storm in Wintergrasp. I want to feel the accomplishment as i get a group for 10man Black Forge so i can go to the bar and get some rare leather working recipe. I want to level my weapon skill and add that priest or mage to my friend list.
But i also want to see the whole world that we didnt see in Vanilla.
So i want to know, am i alone in this, Do you people just want to see Vanilla, or are you wanting that epic experience for what it was, but see a the potential that the whole world has with no BC.
Would be very interesting to see but I highly doubt its gonna happen.
No. I don't want to see stuff added to the game. The point is to go back to vanilla. Not to make supposed "improvements" to the game.

Winter*spring*. Wintergrasp is Wrath of the Lich King.
I prefer to avoid changing anything at all ever. The endless amount of tweaks going on in retail is why I don't play it anymore. And if they start tweaking it a bit here, a bit there, then it will never stop and we we be left with retail classic. Which, I personally, am not going to pay for.

Also this would add a ton of development time to the game, and I bet most people would be against that

It's true, they're already tweaking stuff. Have you seen the Harpy textures?
They might as well add all that other lore stuff.

the title of this thread is infuriating.
the whole idea of classic is its ment to be exactly like vanilla was

You people have me all wrong, I am NOT talking tweaks, or changes. I am talking about the same game, but opening up the world and making it bigger
and that's not a change how?11/06/2018 11:53 PMPosted by ArkanorYou people have me all wrong, I am NOT talking tweaks, or changes. I am talking about the same game, but opening up the world and making it bigger
Furthermore how do you revamp the leveling process to account for all the new zones?
Also how much longer would the game have to be in development to add all these new areas?
Also you open the door for people to go "well you're already adding stuff so why not add x, y and z?"

The Unseen Ripple Effect:
Seeing changes in a vacuum. In said vacuum they have many good and positive effects. Once introduced into the actual game however they cause ripples of unseen effects. Many of which these side effects cause great harm to the game overall.

In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. ... A very small change in initial conditions had created a significantly different outcome.

I just gave my own name, I knew there had to be something to it, just got tired of overly explaining it and wanted to simplify it so called it that.
Thanks!
Edit: I honestly never paid too much attention to that stuff and have been oh so ignorant to it.
1. Much of the world was the result of Catalclysm altering it, meaning you can't have Twilight Highlands without first erasing some of the map.
2. Many zones can't even be accessed without the addition of new travel routes that obviously didn't exist during vanilla.
3. If your max level is 60, how do you expect to go to any of the new zones without being one-shot? And if you could even corpse run your way there, then what? Everything would kill you.
Your suggestion is basically ANTI-CLASSIC on so many levels. If you want to see the world, you have retail. Roll a level 1 and start walking. Your dream game already exists.

"Many Zones" not all, some zones like the hinterlands, north of Eastern plaguelands have roads, and why would blizzard be short sighted to put in level 90 mobs and keep it the way we have already seen it. i am not talking about doing things exactly the way we have seen it already, i am talking about having a complete world to run around in. also, i left Retail at the beginning of WoD, if i wanted the retail experience i would still be playing. i want the Vanilla experience.
You people are so narrow minded, all you see is Vanilla, not what classic could be, that being the look and feel of Vanilla, but being able to experience what the developers couldnt do in 2003.
ALL of you have pointed out things like Dev time, or level contrast, or some kind of change to the original experience, non of which i said in my original post. your not seeing the potential of the look and feel of Vanilla, with the ability to go into Eversong Woods from eastern plaguelands at level 60 with level 60 mobs, things like that.
Did non of you stand at the north end of Eastern plaguelands where the road stopped and wish you could go further. You never looked up that valley in the Wetlands knowing that the Hinterlands are just up the Valley. Or stood at the wall of Gilnaes and wondered what was beyond. Stood in winterspring wanting to climb the slopes of Mt Hyjal. These were all parts of Vanilla. the Dev team have the chance to bring these to us an later patches, or even put some of it in now.
I am NOT talking about messing with the mechanics of Vanilla, that would be ANTI-CLASSIC i am talking about the roads that were there in 2003. open your minds to was there the whole time.
We can experience exactly what the developers can do in 2018 any time we want. It's called Battle for Azeroth.
Why would the same developers "improving" Classic get to anywhere that would actually be an improvement?
