Wow, did you have to think long and hard about your reply?
They’re not going to rollback. Ever. They only rollback when the economy or game world are broken beyond repair. This was not an exploit to the level of layer-hopping for Hydraxian rep to kill Ragnaros, which I think should be an actionable offense.
That said, I think the timing of this “fix” is pretty lame. And it’s not due to “player feedback”. Blizzard let the streamers have their fun for a week, then nerfed it for the rest of us. Period.
They were playing a different game from what is classic wow now but I still have to play with them?
Cheating isnt really doing anything better…
You Banned people for exploiting the EXP Potion in BFA for gaining MORE XP than intended in a period amount of time…
YET, we arent doing anything about this?
It wasn’t a bug, and it wasn’t wrong. They just decided that it wasn’t arbitrarily penalizing enough to bring more than 5 people into the dungeon.
For example, a group of 5 level 1’s killing level 3 non-elites got 15 xp per kill. A group of 8 got 10 per kill (2x4 groups).
If its not a bug then…
Salty rogue who couldn’t get in a AoE cleave leveling raid is salty.
THIS WAS NOT AN EXPLOIT. PERIOD. Stop treating it as such.
Except it isn’t cheating? It’s done something naturally in the game. Just because blizzard decided that it wasn’t intended doesn’t make the act of doing it cheating.
“we’ve identified a bug affecting how XP was calculated for parties of 6 or more players.”
Using a bug to gain an advantage is an exploit.
Using a bug to gain an advantage is an exploit.
Exploiting is cheating.
yes blizzard had a bug in their software so they fixed it. The player did not have to do anything outside of regular play to accomplish this task. it’s not an exploit
Fun detected and removed
Same with the xp potion that the other poster brought up. That was also deemed an exploit.
I also never said “hacking” so I dont know why
is relevant.
The xp potion required player behavior outside on the norm. It required specific instructions to be followed. This was nothing more than players grouping together and playing the game. There is no established XP/hour maximum ruleset.
Now fix how easy MC is… That was not doable that way back in the day…
Knowing about a bug and exploiting it is one thing, but very few people even knew this was a bug, or a supposed bug.
It was more of a “we didn’t think it would work, but it did” thing.
Welcome to MC in 1.12 and not 1.2 when it was first cleared, they’d actually have to BUFF MC to make it hard and that would be a serious change.
If you don’t think something should work and it does, that’s exactly what a bug is, and an exploit
