So if it was only eleven hours you understand that’s still a massive massive amount right? When you say something is a matter of hours it’s generally understood to mean 1 to 2 hours not half of the time an average person is awake.
You are getting a bonus for grouping in raids which was NEVER a thing in vanilla. My example is quite apt I get that you exploited this and are worried about getting banned but I’m over it.
11 hours is not massive
11 hours is massive the current world record is 3 days 7 hours. Let’s take that out to 4 days without aoe mage grinding/layer hops are you saying that saving 1/8th of the playtime isn’t massive lols???
Yes, I know it wasn’t a thing in Vanilla, I covered this though maybe earlier than you started reading.
The problem was that you were getting a bonus for groups greater than 5, which is unintended. I covered this with your metaphor - diminishing returns is a real thing in the workforce and in our application of your metaphor with our World of Warcraft setting, diminishing returns of XP is supposed to kick in in groups of 6+. Your metaphor assumed a salary, which is not applicable to grinding XP.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, my highest level is 13. So, no, I didn’t do this. I haven’t even touched a Classic dungeon yet.
And? The vanilla world record was 4 days 20 hours
Jokerd smashed that and only used layering the last two levels when he already knew he would win without it
The raid thing is literally a non issue, so rag would have died today instead of yesterday, big whoop
However they wouldn’t be such a huge gap in levels between those who aoe grinded dungeons and those who didn’t. Not to mention the /camp part of this crap should absolutely be punished.
What do you mean the /camp?
And people still would have been ahead aoe grinding dungeons, it’s still better xp then questing
Are you talking about resetting instances?
Except you were never able to get decent XP gains in a raid. They exploited and yet they aren’t being punished for it. You should be thankful they’re not tossing around the banhammer, tbh.
I’m talking about logging out in instance while having someone outside so that you get ported to the start with all trash reset yes
If the effects of this were much more extreme, you could advocate for some roll-backs at best.
In no way was this an exploit; not even with the argument presented earlier that “it even says you get less XP in a raid group” because you, in fact, are.
The formula was clearly wrong, but that’s a fault on Blizzard’s end. Taking advantage of this required nothing more than playing the game fully within the constraints established by game mechanics, even if they are slightly unconventional. It just turns out that the raid penalty wasn’t in effect, so XP/h efficiency was far greater than intended.
And even with that in mind, the impact this “exploit” has even short-term is minimal.
A) would have been fixed with this if it was a problem
B) you can accomplish the same thing by having someone run to the start on the last few pulls, would just cut the xp a little bit, but not much
Or hell, in sm just die, the gy is close
What about people who already extensively used this exploit?
What about the other exploits?
What about fresh without such and other exploits?
What about (obvious) other issues that you possibly missed, like raid and dungeon difficulty?
Will we have to wait for the right type of players to exploit everything first until you fix it for everyone else? It sort of invalidates classic in many aspects and it shows “we have the reference client” is not the right answer for lot of these questions.
Because the people in charge are the same ones that ran Retail into the ground and are more out of touch with gamers than my grandma is. It’s more alarming that people except anything different from these guys just cuz it has a Classic patch slapped on.
So all the major guilds that are higher level and or got world first that exploited this, should be stripped of their titles for world first.
Thank god in some cases, no NPC’s in major cities layers.
Can’t say I’m surprised they let this run. All PTR / Beta’s are for generally identifying exploits that after ‘they’ve’ done so, tend to get reported. Another dip in MMO integrity coupled with cash shops etc
That wasn’t true for a huge amount of players back in vanilla.
I myself was in a guild and we ran scholo and strat runs EVERY week-- usually because it was fun and still presented some challenge.
People really do need to stop looking at the higher-end players, as if they are the only ones.
What’s ironic here is that you’re generalizing somebody based on a 4 word comment and being toxic in the process.
Nobody was cheating. 99.9% of people didn’t even know it was a bug. There’s no chance any action is going to be taken against these players.
What are you on about? You can still play with all those guild mates. You’ll just get an appropriate level of XP for the ease of the content you are enjoying. No one is stopping you playing with 9 others…
