WoW Classic Free Character Moves – Realms

People asking to be able to move anywhere just don’t seem to understand Blizzard want the stream to flow downhill.

This just reinforces the reality that the people whining about the clogged servers are the ones causing the servers to be queued out almost 24-7.

Is it just the pvp realms? What about the rest of us? What about all the people who rolled on oceanic realms because we were jonesing to play your game and could not log into the pve realms? So we’re stuck? Or we reroll, and get even further behind? How is this a fix? And as long as I’m here, I just want to say that watching your streamers and their crews get in and play like crazy while the rest of us got screwed was pretty lousy to watch. It almost seems as if…you meant to do it this way. smh

So remember everyone, create 10 characters on your server today in order to reserve all the good names! (Because that’s what people are going to do with this notice…)

makes sense, but - the good names are taken already on any high/full populated server.

Please stop with the incessant whining and complaining. Blizzard never said this measure was to reunite you and your friends who re-rolled on different servers. This was implemented to move people from the highest populated servers. That’s it. This is the only way to ensure that happens.
Imagine the forums when there’s a mass migration to full realms of people trying to reunite with their friends who stuck it out. Or when a medium server freaks out because they now suddenly have hours-long queues. I know this discourages more movement than allowing people to move wherever, but it’s the only way to only move people from high to low pop. Also, don’t you think everybody would stay put until the last available moment to see how the populations balance out across all servers before they commit? Then you have a random mass exodus all at once. Doesn’t sound fun to me.
Thanks, Blizz, for taking a logical step towards reducing queues on the full servers!

He’s right, these restrictions are horrible. But to make sure things still say balanced they need to open server transfers from high pop to any low population server. Not many people are going to move because guilds are split across multiple realms so there’s no incentive to leave. People aren’t going to switch to a potentially dead server to play by themselves.

Edit: I may have misread the blue post, I thought they were going to shut down character creation on all the newer realms that people are transferring to. Instead I see they might mean only the new realms created just for that purpose.

Which is why this shutdown of new character creation is completely useless. It just obstructs people who are doing normal activities on the server they chose to play on, it doesn’t stop the naming nonsense.

Smart players have already reserved names on the realm they might transfer to, even before the restriction. Then they’ll delete the placeholder and move the real character. Or, even better, have someone make the placeholder on another account to do the process more quickly and reduce the risk of losing the name.

what are you talking about

What part has you confused?

this is an absolutely garbage take.

If the problem is high queue times then why tf are you worried about dying servers? EVERY SERVER is literally crammed with 2-10 times more people than they want on it by the time htye take away phasing. stop being a baby, stop crying about dying realms, and move your dang character. These realms arent dying

How do reserve names on new servers that havent been opened yet?

the part where the guy you were responding to destroyed your reasoning by pointing out all choice names on high-pop servers are already taken and so you just started talking about something else.

Please please please remove Netherwind from the list. Our population is already continuously growing. We don’t need more people, especially with the head start they’ve had on us. This is a PVP server that’s new. We don’t need level 60’s running around yet from established servers.

Seriously. Blizzard has been responding incredibly fast to these issues. They expanded max server population within days of launch, and now are creating new realms and offering free transfers within a week. People are being insanely impatient with this.

Thank you, Blizzard!

Ahh, I may have misread what they are doing. I thought they were going to shut down character creation on all the newer realms that people are transferring to. Instead I see they might mean only the new realms created just for that purpose.

Language can be tough to parse at times. That’s why people shouldn’t fly off the handle when they read something!

Transfer, guys… just do it. It seems to me Blizzard really intends to kill layering at the end of phase one. If they do, it will be like merging 5 high-pop realms, and queues will be absurd, especially if the “tourists” don’t leave until then.

I don’t believe so. They said that once it’s live, you’ll be able to select the transfer option from the queue.

Which should really encourage people who are staring at a 2 hour+ queue in the evening.

Hey, don’t wish that upon me! :sob:

I doubt you’ll have an issue. I’m only level 52, for example.
