WoW Classic fails to launch from Battle.net

My brother’s battle.net fails to launch World of Warcraft Classic when I hit the play button. After pushing it it says launching for a few seconds, then goes back to saying play. And the game never opens. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I’ve uninstalled the launcher and reinstalled it. Still doesn’t work. I’ve run searches for %appdata% %programdata% %temp% %localappdata% and deleted everything relating to battle.net or blizzard and tried again, doesn’t work. I’ve checked for updates which it says there are none. I’ve done “scan and repair” multiple times of which it says it’s downloading a fix and afterward says the game is ready to play, and it still doesn’t work. And no matter how many times I do “scan and repair” it will keep finding the same size download of like 104mb over and over again. So I have no idea how to fix this issue. This similar problem happens about every couple of weeks but this time I can’t fix the issue.

You have somewhere in there shut down and restarted your PC? Try doing that, and when you run the launcher make sure to run as admin. Otherwise try waiting a couple minutes to see if it starts.

Done all of that unfortunately. Been battling this for about two days now. I’ve also checked for windows and driver updates. I’ve had windows scan and check for missing or broken files which it found and repaired but even after that and a full reboot it still doesn’t work.

Alright well its working again. And to be honest, I have no idea why. Fired up the PC this evening, and did the usual of checking for a WoW update and did a scan and repair. Did the usual of download a 104.94mb update. Hit the “Play” button and nothing. Then I tried entering the command in battle.net to open the game using directX 11 instead of 12. Hit “Play”. Nothing, same deal. Hit scan and repair again for the hell of it and continued troubleshooting online while it did so. Never got to see what the result was after the scan part of scan and repair but when I saw it was done I hit “Play” again in vain and whatayaknow, it frickin started!

I really have no idea why battle.net hates his PC so much. It literally does this same type of crap every month or so for the past year, and it’s never fixed the same way. I think my brother put it best calling it the Doomsday of program bugs.
