WoW Classic Era - PvP Realm Layer Behavior Change

I know it must be obvious to everyone, including Blizzard, an RP-PvP realm is needed. We appreciate you defending the realm-type / genre and waiting to announce it so the streamers don’t ruin it again (realm locks) like they did in SoD.

With 1.15.5, PvP realms will attempt to balance faction at both the layer and the specific zone level. What this means is that if one faction exceeds our balance threshold, any additional players attempting to enter that same zone will instead transfer to another layer.

The system will work much like our Warmode system in The War Within, where we balance as many copies of the zone as possible and eventually any overflow of one dominant faction will end up on a one sided zone by themselves.

Any update on if these are going to be permanent TBC servers? If the servers just progress into wrath again without leaving behind a permanent TBC server that really kills the desire to play.

Hopefuly people that joined a PvP server expecting to have fair PvP learned their lesson this time and realize they belong on the PvE server.

This is a very scary change, if you’re locked to a long CD change, how are you going to be able to group with friends and raid world bosses properly? Vanilla is all about playing w/ each other, if this is limited to only grouping once every so often, we’re gonna have tons of issues of random group members not being on the right layer.

I would highly recommend reverting this change, or not locking layers to a cooldown when grouping with players.

Oh man, just got layered mid combat against elites. Respawned on with another person, surrounded by 3 elite mobs. Good work with the layers though…

Bro thats like saying play “Feral” in SOD… Its the worse spec in the game why the hell would anyone play the worse spec on purpose?

So the thing with players like Lazarak, is his side of the faction (and the commmunity teen edge-lords like him - and this isn’t an insult or judgement, it is a fact) is they suffer from groupthink mentality that if a class has OP racials, and a 1 shot button macro enabled, it is a meta.

The truth is, enhancement shaman well played is very near unbeatable in 1v1 and can be good even in a semi-competitive warsong gulch. Just don’t tell Lazarak i told you this he might come with death and camping threats against me again

How does it feel to play on something that just dies off after 5 months? You are just going to come crawling back to era at the end of the day and we are going to look at each other in BG’s 5 -12 months later attempting to touch each other with wrath, starfire, lightning bolts and elemental mastery. How does that make you feel. Excited?

God knows how much cope is needed to play on a server that is going to die off only to come back to the original realms once said server dies off.

I once had a boss that was seriously motivated and satisfied with fixing problems. Thats what made him tick. But the problem was he couldn’t live in a world where nothing needed fixing. He felt irrelevant. So, he subconsciously broke things, process, projects or chose broken things for us as a team to be involved with just so he could fix them. Modern Blizz devs give me the same vibe when it comes to Classic.

Take SOD for example. SOD is like trying to take a classic game like chess and try to make a few changes and expect people to like it more than the original classic. Thats either extremely naïve, arrogant, or like I said - a dev feeling irrelevant and needing something to do.

And now it seems to be continuing on with Classic Fresh.

This is just homogenization. Makes the world even more dead. Layers are already terrible. Just invest in competent servers.

Layers are the worst to happen to this game. Completely defeats the purpose of an open world. Now they’re making the open world essentially instanced by never having any sort of unfair advantage for one faction. Nerfs Horde in STV and nerfs Alli in Ashenvale.

Almost like the people with retail characters on the forums don’t actually play Classic.

Enhancement can be kinda quirky in WPvP if you’re juiced out with a flask and bis stam gear.
