Wow classic cost?

and just because you don’t think it is , does not mean it isn’t

I think I remember reading you say something familiar to that before.

OP… ever had a subscription to a magazine or a news paper?

You sound like the kind of person who would be like let me pay $5 for this magazine every month for the rest of my life and never pay for it ever again. And then get mad when they stopped setting you new magazines every month.

To be clear, I have no objection to paying $15/month (or, if the game hasn’t been wrecked with modern-WoW crap, more likely a lesser fee due to paying for a year at a time). I’m just puzzled and somewhat annoyed that people keep posting things about “the sub we all already pay for retail.” Who’s this We, Kemo Sabe?

$15 during Vanilla is equal to $19 today so it will actually cost less.

For 60 levels of static content, yes it is a large fee. $180 a year. How can you defend that?

Its not 15$ were I live its 45-50$ for two months of game time, that’s as much as an entire AAA game title for a console or pc and that’s for a game I have no intention of playing ever again(modern wow), blizzard made it complete trash, WoD was horrible and legion was also pretty bad and ruined a ton of things that I enjoyed, with wow clasic there are no changes thus no extra development costs needing to be covered so 45-50$ for two months for that is also horrendous and as for gold farming sure I could farm 30k gold a month but when the tokens cost 200k it would take me 7 months to get one.

Do you want them to make changes to the game? “Update” it to Battle for Azeroth? No?

Then static content is worth more than “dynamic” content, isn’t it?

While I do want a classic only option, the $180 is technically a “WoW sub” which gives you access to Classic and Modern WoW.

Im sure Blizzard had plans to provide legacy servers for TBC and WOTLK to say its static is just your opinion.

I “defend” it because - to me - the value is getting to play the game that I love.

I’d pay double it if I had to.

I understand if other people don’t want to or don’t think it’s a good value, but let’s not pretend like $15-$30 is a “large” amount of money.

Is $15 buying you new content every month, or are they sending you the same 14 year old magazine each month?

Blizzard said at Blizzcon they currently have no plans for any content beyond the end of Classic.

That only matters if someone considers modern WoW worth paying a wooden nickel for.

And they said, as recently as 2015, that they weren’t doing WoW Classic at all either:

“You don’t want that, you think you do but you don’t”

Edited to add: It was announced in 2017, at which point they’d already figured out the server architecture, so they were working on it for at LEAST the entirety of 2017. That means from Nov '15 to Jan '17(latest) they changed their minds.

Yes “currently” is the key word. Why would they not make more legacy servers if the demand was there? They also said we would not get classic…

And I don’t. I have no intention to ever touch modern wow again. Just stating facts as they are today.

I’d much rather have a classic only option.

because you also have access to base WoW as well for one, servers aren’t free to run, any staff they use to maintain them, and one else working on the team needs to be paid as well,

See that word currently in my post.

Easy.
How much entertainment do you get out of netflix per month?
Like 8$ for one screen use at a time.
bout half the cost roughly.
I can play WoW like 3 hours easy each night a week. Honestly more if I prepped my time around it but that’s just me.
So that’s about 90 hours of entertainment? 60 hours if only 2 hours a night.

I definitely do not watch 30-45 hours of netflix entertainment per month. Better argue with them that they are “extorting” me.
