Wow classic cost?

You have not paid for what they are working on now though, and not being a butt here ,but its ‘paid’

It’s almost like these kids think code grows on trees.

What is being worked on now is recovery for code they themselves lost. So yes I already PAID for it they just didn’t allow anyone to go back to and then lost the code for it.

They lost nothing, and no you have not paid for what they are working on now, what you paid for once again, is now Base WoW, upgradable to BfA.

I think the “it’s static, therefore should cost less” argument is silly for the reasons I’ve outlined, but this isn’t a good point. There was never a time in WoW’s history when there wasn’t more content coming. Burning Crusade had been announced well before patch 1.12 hit.

That’s not what I said. Did you pay monthly BEFORE you knew of an expansion?

To be fair - you have never paid for Classic. Classic is not Vanilla. Classic is a redo to go back in time and give it another go and they have to recreate a lot of things to get it running.

I think it’s important to understand this. You haven’t bought Classic; you bought Vanilla. It’s not the same game. It’s like expecting Warcraft 3: Reforged to be free just because you own Warcraft 3. They need to be compensated for their work.

They did lose it, if they hadn’t then they would have been able to set up classic wow instantly.

In the forest where no one is, with the code tree that fell down with no one to hear next to box with the cat that is alive and dead, and the buttterfly next to the dam.

I highly recommend you read the ToS. Where it clearly states you pay the monthly subscription for the privlege to play their game. You signed it, maybe read it. Again the ToS clearly state you are renting time to play with THEIR IP.

You buying an expansion gives you ZERO OWNERSHIP OF BLIZZARD IP. ZERO!

Seriously how old are you?

Its not a philosophical idea, its how the game actually works. I’ve seen real code examples, I very much doubt it works any different here. It doesn’t make sense to spend resources on stuff that no-one is gonna see.

Its not like a Schrodinger’s cat, we know where everything is supposed to be by the time user enters a zone. Its recorded in the database. If some mob is supposed to spawn at 13:10, but no one enters until 13:20 then it will be created as part of the box copy at 13:20, but not at 13:10. There is no uncertainty.

No they did not lose the code, lol. It is not a plug and play thing.

You can even look an interview from after the Nost meeting, they straight out say “We will have the code”

No, its really not if they were asking for monthly fees for the new warcraft 3 remaster then it would be the same.

he is saying that in response to you thinking you already bought Classic(the version they are working on now)

They did lose it because they didn’t save a back up for it and then it was promptly lost when they started adding other things to the code.

No, not even close. They are not propping up some old code in their new infrastructure. They would have to whip out the old, EVERYTHING, to get that back up and running.

You must thing they double click an exe to get things running.

Archiving and backups has been an industry standard long before WoW was first launched.

We can do this all night if you want, no they did not lose the code, they themselves have said this, it is not something that they can just plug and play.

This is like a daily thing with this forum. Some yahoo comes on and argues about something we all know is false.

If they had kept a proper back up yes it is. If they had properly kept a copy of the old code quarantined it would not have been an issue.
