How will we know if weve been selected to join beta? Is it an email they send us?
It will be in your email and on your game launcher
When do they decide? is it when they go live for beta they just mass invite at that moment?
Invites go out starting tomorrow.
Source? I’ve heard this claim but no citation.
Look it up, its pinned on the classic and general forums by Kaivax
I think it was in the post they linked in the announcement.
Let me see if I can find it.
I don’t work for Blizzard so I couldn’t honestly tell you. I would imagine they already picked people to send invites to. In my history of betas they do send invites out later to keep a stable population for testing. So if you don’t get an invite tomorrow you may get one later on.
Just in my experiences but i’ve only done three betas.
Beginning May 15, select WoW players will be invited to participate in a small-scale, focused closed beta test.

This says the Beta test starts. We already know the streamers have been selected, but not whether the general opt-ins get it then.
Honestly, I wouldn’t trust any emails. There will be tons of scams out there. It will show up on launcher but have to sign up for beta access. Classic has its own sign up now separate from retail.
Well officials emails have very specific information which include no links. They simply direct you to your launcher. If you receive an email with links it’s obviously a scam.
There is a section in your account settings detailing the difference.
The way I’m reading it I see it as the first wave of invites going out tomorrow.
I hope your interpretation is right then.
I hope so.
If we don’t see any “I got in!” posts tomorrow than I’d say I was wrong.
But I think it’s invites for the closed beta going out tomorrow and possibly other waves going out as time goes on.
The part I’m entirely confused on is the stress tests. The way it’s worded looks like I can be invited to participate in a stress test but that doesn’t guarantee me access to the Beta.
Even if you’re wrong, we’ll see those posts.
That’s exactly how stress tests work. They open it up to everyone to get as many participants as they can.
When you get the email, be sure not to go for any links on it as there will undoubtedly be tons of phishing going on. Go to your .net launcher launcher and look in the window above “PLAY” where you can select accounts. It will be in there if you have a genuine invite.
I just opted in for beta. No idea if I’ll get selected though.
I hope Blizzard DOES beta-test the initial raids to insure proper difficulty.
Back in Vanilla, the initial raids came out during far different patches than 1.12. Many classes hadn’t been buffed at the time and the raids took some time to master.
It would be a shame if players found the initial raids to be cakewalks they can complete on the first day simply because they had access to the 1.12 talents that Vanilla players did not.
