Hmm.
I’m one of those who never experienced the 1.5 version; heck, I was never into PVP anyway so hardly, if ever even did whatever version was there when I started WoW (Late TBC I suppose).
However, I wonder how difficult it would really be to give players the option of the 1.12 battlegrounds or just one earlier version? Isn’t Classic supposed to be a “Museum” piece, after all…? Why not give, er, “museum-goers” the option to experience an earlier incarnation of the battlegrounds?
Then again, what do I know. Perhaps I’m merely talking out of my butt. Maybe they don’t even have an ancient backup copy of the 1.5 version. Though to me, completely erasing every last copy of a backup of data sounds like… really bad programming…
I would imagine they could recreate the original AV if given enough time, but that might also be why we aren’t getting it in the first place - time.
As for giving players the option, eh, that would just split the player base because not everyone enjoyed the original version. In a lot of ways it felt more like a PvE encounter featuring opposing faction members.
I will. I think the version that is being run might address that issue. Will report later.

I’ll let you know tomorrow but I have a feeling everyone creating new toons an trying to queue for AV will stress the servers.

We have bern asking repeatedly for early AV since it was gutted, starting with v1.8. They have been working on classic for literally years, and it will be many months before AV is supposed to roll out.
They were quite able to do sweeping changes from patch to patch over 10 years ago.

I’m speaking only of their decision to implement AV 1.12 after the classic announcement and not going all the way back to vanilla. Think about it logically, would implementing 1.5 AV have even been a thought back in Legion? MoP?
cant wait till beta is over its so annoying to see all the people with beta not testing anything at all. hype for classic has already been killed by having such a long beta. but its blizzard gg
I now have the Beta & Stress Test: WoW Classic in my Launcher options but the Play button is gray right now. Does anyone know if it will go green so I can join in on the Test?

Is this a sick Joke blizzard!!! you add the Beta & Stress test option back to the bnet with the play button grayed out with a message: “You can’t play wow classic yet” what a sick joke. Why jabait us blizz…unreal…

I keep telling myself that it’s just a game. I shouldn’t be stomping my little feet because I’m not getting my way. It’s just a game. I can wait. The world is not going to end if I don’t get to test AV this weekend.
