WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Information -- Updated Nov. 18

I don’t remember, sr, gdkp, lc, etc in 2005 when mc and bwl came out. I do remember groups of people in guilds playing together and struggling together to kill raid bosses. Must’ve been just me, meh.

I would, and I would not. Do you remember launch in 2019? The RP servers were swarmed by people not wanting to sit in a queue on the normal realms? This time - with only ONE server of each type (worldwide?) It would not stay RP for 2 minutes.

I get that the classic fresh realms will eventually progress into TBC. Will we get the same option to move to TBC if we keep playing in the current classic era realms? I really want to play TBC but would prefer not to move to a fresh realm.
Also, after TBC will you force characters to wotlk or will you give the option to remain in a TBC Era realm?

Can both not coexist? You act as if guilds won’t exist with GDKP’s present, when that’s far from the truth. You’re only alienating a large percentage of the playerbase by banning GDKP’s. You’re disincentivizing people from leveling alts, because you then need to find a new guild to raid in, rather than joining GDKP’s. Recruiting and maintaining a full raid roster in a guild environment is significantly more overhead than replacing no shows in a GDKP.

With queues this is concerning, so you have a point.

I’m not sure about the solution unless that would be releasing the RP realm later and then not killing it like they did with Chaos Bolt on SoD.

Two questions that should be answered so Blizz doesn’t waste player time:

  1. Will TBC become an era realm or will we have our progression removed after TBC again?
  2. Will there be any way that once the fresh realms hit the last phase that era is on to be able to transfer our era characters to TBC?

I’ve got characters in era I’ve been working a lot on and don’t want that time to be wasted leveling new characters…Even if it meant a gold cap on character transfer to TBC or something…

Please read my last reply, the summary of it is a few bad apples ruin it for everyone. And Blizzard either does nothing or they overkill it.

Lazy take. Ban gold buyers. Perma ban them first offense. The vast majority of GDKP players (90%+) do not buy gold, which you seem to agree with. Gold buying and botting did not disappear with SoD. You know what did? The number of pugs and incentive to pug or play alts.

That requires accuracy and hard work, basically a mop and bucket. Blizzard either sits there and lets it fester, or they grab a flamethrower and burn it all.

Many changes made for SoD bled over into Era. Policies for other versions of the game tend to be what eventually bleeds over into Era. I don’t want to see a no GDKP policy in Era as it’s not a good policy for any version of the game.

What I’d like to see is some real action being taken by Blizzard to combat bots and RMT and not this limp D crap they’re trying to pull. Perma-ban gold buyers. If they have these policies for fresh servers hopefully that’ll continue into Era.

Do you mean to suggest I feel threatened by other versions and that they’re going to make Era dead? No. I’m not concerned about that. If anything they’ll eventually bring more people into Era as I would assume they will have an Era transfer option again with the TBC launch.

Yeah, sadly, this is just the reality with how the game community has developed over the years. I just really hate to see the RPG lost in mmoRPG. Guess I will have to stick to retail or elsewhere for WoW RP. ;-;

Great, so they’ll alienate and isolate a large percentage of their playerbase, and then scratch their heads when fresh underperforms.

GDKP is extremely attractive to a large number of players because it allows raiders to fairly assess what items they want to spend their gold on, not be at the mercy of a loot council or rolling, and is transferrable in the event that your guild disbands, etc. Joining a new guild puts you at the bottom of the loot priority, and rolling is simply luck-based.

GDKP is truly the most “fair” loot system, given you actually ban gold-buyers. And you leave every raid with something, even if your loot doesn’t drop. Simply telling this entire subset of players to not play will not bode well for the success. Dead on arrival. Enjoy

I don’t think they’ll ban gdkp in era because they know that there’s a market for players who like this system. They just want to isolate the GDKP community into their own areas. It’s still legal in Cata and era and I doubt that will change.

if they know whats good for them they will let us clone characters to ever expansion and let us stay in tbc and wrath forever

Era or HC are both good choices still

sod will be violently bodied with the launch of this fresh. sod is over

Once again you seem to think they have the accuracy or care. They see basically something suffering from the symptoms of RMT so they kill the thing entirely. Not saying it’s a bad system, but it takes a lot of TLC to keep truly healthy and burning it with fire is a very easy option compared to caring for it.

You assumed I’m playing fresh simply because I said carrying over the SOD honor system / banning GDKPs / chronoboon is a good thing. That doesn’t address the fundamental problems of classic like 70-80% of the servers being rogues/warriors, half the classes only being heal/buff bots, and the rest being mid to bad at everything, 1 button rotations, and raid-logging. And that’s rich calling me the mutant when you clearly measure so much of your self worth and enjoyment around a 20 year old game for the rest of your life with little-to-no changes, all while posting on an alt. Just lol.

Nah, I don’t think they care. That’s the issue with modern blizzard and particularly why I was pro no-changes from the beginning. The community that brought us 2019 has been abandoned by modern blizzard. They only care about shareholder profits and making terrible changes that the majority don’t care for. It’s hilarious how basically the only change they are making to this fresh is the GDKP ban, and that very decision is completely ruining it for the majority of people who actually want the fresh, as evidenced by the replies in this thread. I simply won’t play and many others feel the same.

Rather than investing resources to fix the underlying issues, they are misplacing blame on an entire community of players, many of which won’t be playing.

Your argument is also flawed since RMT and botting did not disappear in SoD with the GDKP ban - so what did they really accomplish?
