Anyone know where I can find updated statistics on the distribution of classes?
I’m curious to see what classes/specs are over/under played 
Warcraftlogs?

warcraftrealms had graphics back in the day, though I’m not certain of how accurate their statistics are these days.

wowclassicpopulation Is probably your best bet. They have to use player polling to determine it so you won’t ever find something 100% accurate.
Edit: im an idiot and saw the word classic instead of class, ignore me.
It’s not perfect, but people still use Warcraftrealms data to compile these things; it’s just other parties who make the graphics now.
Least played classes are monks and shamans. Idk about the most.

Why would you want to know? I can tell you which specs are underplayed right now… WW Monk/Survival Hunter/Subtlety Rogue/Demonology Warlock/Arcane Mage are some of the most under-represented. Over represented probably would be Havoc DH/Resto Druid/Prot Warrior/Fire Mage/Outlaw Rogue.
Go to the various class forums. If the majority of the complaints are petty like “DK’s need more animations” the class is doing great and probably lots of people playing it. If the post read like “OMG, why does blizz hate (print spec here)” or “3 xpacs and nothing has been done to fix (print spec here)” then that spec will be underplayed.

As others have already said, underplayed is definitely Monk, which is not surprising, and Shaman, which kind of is.
Overplayed is Druid, Hunter, and Paladin, which makes sense. Hunters are best for solo players, Druid and Paladin are triple threat hybrids.
