WoW class design has the potential to be so much better than it is right now

There’s not enough emphasis on being cool. Lame class abilities were acceptable when Blizzard was limited by technology ~20 years ago but it isn’t today. Why can’t Warrior have a spec where they sit in Avatar form 24/7 and sling crazy lightning abilities out like Thor? Why can’t DH sit in Meta 24/7 and do visually crazy fel stuff?

It really makes no sense, there’s so much that can be done to make gameplay not feel so indistinct.

Because… That’s an enhancement shamans specialty

Because turning forms into permanent appearances makes them boring and unimportant. It’s no longer a cool form, it’s just how you look.

Personally not a fan of things going so far that big abilities that fill are screen are just our filler spell. It’s hard to get excited about pressing the big button when every ability is flashy and ‘impactful’. Black Desert is a fine game but nothing feels it matters, you are just a torrent of animation cutting through armies that becomes impossible to even know what one is looking at.

Mop was when class design was at its best imo. Once ion took over in wod it instantly got worse and kept getting worse until dragonflight.

Look at the Released Hero Talents for Warrior on WoWhead. It’s pretty much this.

Counter point, Glad Stance.

What I think might be the best improvements that WoW could implement to make my gameplay the most fun i can have would undoubtedly be disliked by a section of the playerbase.

Cant please all the people all the time

I sit in shadowform 24/7, and I’m sure many other spriests would agree with me that SF is incredibly boring and should just be removed.

Agreed, I think the reason it is not removed is PvP (so they can get visual queues about who is where) but I think it should be entirely optional in PvE. Like in a bg you might see two priest nameplates but you see the shadowform on one of them so you know the other is the healer and target them, that sort of thing.

Lots of things seem to have only pvp reasons but for some reason impact pvers too.

Old demonology metamorphosis was one of the coolest things. The game needs more of that, I want to feel powerful when playing my class/spec.

None of this is cool though.

Hop onto Season of Discovery and look at however many warlocks are running around in their demon form. It ain’t “cool” when everything is a carbon copy of each other.

What is cool is when you can take a character and emphasize it, but to emphasize a character you need a lower baseline. That lower baseline creates what the norm is, and on top of that you can create more interesting aspects of what that character is when in full force.

So… that’s the reason. Namely that what you are suggesting is quite literally one of the most boring types of visual design imaginable, whereas actual characters being able to do character defining things and have their character defining moments … that’s cool! And WoW has a near endless array of these moments both in-game and out-of-the game in books and other forms of media.

Idk when I saw it and I thought it was cool. It was the only reason I made a warlock in season of discovery. The abilities are still pretty lame since it’s classic but the power fantasy is still sort of there.

Even just increasing the visuals of current spells would go a long way. Most of the times on DH I can’t even see my glaive tempest when I cast it because it’s overlapped by mobs. All I see if the damage numbers, so I know I did press it.

it’s off season for most of us right now, but it could overall be better, yeah. They need some more math dudes or whatever.

almost anything about this game could and SHOULD be magnitudes better than it is

but blizzard isn’t even trying to compete with indie studios

That’s a subjective quantity.
