To keep it simple,
I would love emojis and gifs in wow chat, and it doesn’t have to be the emojis that we usually use in real life.
It can be creative, like a smiling undead face with rotting lips (smiling emoji), Khadgar face (thinking emoji), or horde/alliance flags.
Gifs can be anything from Varian dying or Thrall cheating in mak’gora.

EDIT: it doesn’t have to be gifs and emojis, it can be any update to the chat, it’s a 2004 old design.
Why do you need this? The chat does what it needs to.
letters alone sometime can’t show the actual emotions going through at that time, emojis can help with that,
and gifs are just fun to have.
Bring us this for the forums and ingame chat!
If they add gifs, people are gonna turn trade chat into even more of a meme.

Wasn’t there a bug way back when where you could link images into chat or something?
This is true, they should have some sort of limitations. Like trade chat for example, there was an incident where people were able to put in weird pictures in trade chat somehow, and blizzard fixed that glitch.
I am saying, update the wow chat since its so outdated, another way is to modernize the look of it, or something. we can’t have the same chat as we did in 2004.
Trade Chat is for gold selling, carries and casual racism. GIFs won’t improve that.
Uh. I would hate all of this. Regardless, there’s an addon.
This isn’t texting though. I can’t think of a single chat in any game I play suddenly just putting gifs in the chat. This would be incredibly annoying to me. I can’t imagine doing content and suddenly having someone pop a gif in my chat.

Elvui has emojis and crap, you can probably rip whatever chat add-on they have shoved into their package.
That is the last thing chat needs. It is already filled with complete garbage most of the time, we don’t need people spamming emojis in it as well.
God no. The few times I’ve had to stomach venturing onto Twitch it’s just this giant streaming mass of idiotic emojis that nobody can possibly be pretending is an actual conversation. That’s the last thing this game needs.
