WOW can't have two bad expansions back to back

I don’t believe the wow engine can deliver anything particularly new or interesting.

Expansions will just be rehashed content from now on with nothing really new.

Blizz is a dry husk of ideas being run by corporate types for profit.

If I was in Blizz’s place, I would do the same thing. Money is money after all.

But the bottom line is yeah, the “good expansion bad expansion” thing is likely to change into bad expansion, bad expansion, bad expansion etc…

for real I don’t get it.

I’m having a lot of fun.

I think it might be that people are still staying home and spending a lot of time online so they’re running out of stuff to do.

What are talking about? both expansions are a financial success, SL already making the record for most pre-sales.

If the so called haters/ whiners had actually left the game and never returned you might had a point . Ain’t happening !!!

I’m pretty sure they outsourced that one.

The plot twist is that there were three bad expansions back to back: WoD, Legion, and BFA.

Glad Shadowlands broke that trend by actually being good.

WoD was a bad expac… But after SL, I think there will be 2 expacs that are worse than it.

lol 41% of people already quit, proably more by now. Number is only gonna increase especially with TBC which will be even more popular than classic. Retail gonna become like Runescape where no one plays the new version.

This was said in classic and you will copy paste this statement when Woltk arrives as well.

Hype, launch and major patches brings back players which brings in revenue. Right now 4 months into the expansion all content is old content and next mini patch is making you do the same stuff over again for different rewards like valor and anima. Patch 9.1 - TBC- Patch 9.2 … and so on are the ones to bring back players.

If you’re having fun then its great. The forum is full of whiners, don’t worry about it.

I’m loving shadowlands also, as are probably most people playing it. Most normal people don’t come to the forums to whine if they don’t like it or get bored, they just wander off to play something else.

i’ve yet to play a version of wow i haven’t liked. Everyone keeps saying x expansion was complete trash but, even this game at its “worst” is still a fun game to play.

FWIW, people like to go on and on about how WoW has 2 teams or at least alternates good/bad expansions…

… but I think it’s less of an alternating thing and more of a sets of 3 thing.

Vanilla, TBC, WotLK all operated on variations of the same design philosophy, at least until near the end with LFD and all that.

Cata came along and changed a whole lot. MoP stuck with it. Even WoD fit the mold, it just lacked a LOT. Of everything.

Then Legion came along with another major design shift. BfA followed suit. Shadowlands is Round 3.

I’ll be more worried if we get 10.0 and it’s not different from Legion thru Shadowlands. If we break the sets of 3 and just continue on this path, people are going to burn out even harder than they already are.

No one is running out of stuff to do, the issue is far worse.

It’s having to do the same thing over and over for measly reward. It doesn’t feel satisfying, it feels tedious and annoying.

The complains aren’t “I have nothing to do”, it’s “I’m burned out” and “I’m sick of doing this”

The resounding counter-argument from people is “don’t do it then, it’s optional”, which has led to more and more content being placed on the “forget it” list until eventually people just don’t even feel like logging in again.

The main reason so many still play is habit, nostalgia, and fear of trying something new. There’s very few people who are playing WoW for the first time in shadowlands.

I am pretty sure that is not a rule. Or a law. Or even a social convention.

Try again.

According to the forums, WoW’s had about four bad expansions in a row. Perhaps as many as six.

most players liked bfa and love shadowlands just because you dont like it doesnt mean others dont. blizzard has listened to people like you and those on forums for years and only made the game crappy. WoD is what blizzard got taking your advise.

They got no choice, but to make this expansion good because otherwise the appeal is gone. Systems not liked, Time gating isn’t liked, anima farming isn’t liked and it goes on. Time to sacrifice the sysems, time gating and resource farming such as anima etc got to go in the next expansion or do they want a mmorpg that comes out of no where and flex on them. They got talent there so why they don’t use it to its fullest?

If Blizzard actually listen to people on the forums the previous expansions and this one wouldn’t need saving and have players celebrating. There’s a reason why it has led up all to this. Wasn’t because of forums and if anything they did implement from the forums was character customization, SL alt friendly to a extent and flying done in another way, but in their way.

They don’t have to listen to all, but those suggestions that actually helps the game in the long run. Those suggestions 9/10 gets ignored to oblivion.

See I think what messed people up about BFA was that it came right after legion. Legion was good but it was more like… we just farmed artifact power alllllll last expansion (but you got sick weapon powers from it, it wasn’t like a mind numbing grind at all) now we come into BFA and it’s like hey farm that artifact power again but this time for literally like 3 revamped powers instead of the 16 or whatever individual powers you had in Legion. It was just bad. And, from a horde players perspective the leveling kinda sucked too. Oh, and since BFA azerite armor had no secondaries on it, at launch you literally had like maybe 10% of each stat, sometimes like 4% haste or something. It was just a huge drop off in fun.

A drop off of some kind happens every launch, but it’s usually into new content. BFA was like they took the core of legion and removed what made it fun.
