WoW can no longer read symlinked dirs

Fired up WoW after a couple days of not playing and the game is acting like it’s a fresh install. I got the TWW opening cinemactic (meaning WTF is likely not being read anymore) and the Addons button isn’t showing up (meaning it thinks I have no addons installed). I haven’t changed anything that I know of about my set up or file permissions.

I have my AddOns and WTF folders symlinked to my dropbox (to keep everything synced between computers). As far as I know the permissions are all still correct (lrwxr-xr-x).

Anything else I should check?

I have the same issue. Symbolic links work for my Data folder, but for stuff in _ retail _ they no longer work for any folder or subfolder. I opened a ticket and was met with a generic response to reset my UI, so clearly customer support isn’t going to help.

I doubt resolving symlinks is supported behavior, so it’s not surprising your ticket got no help. If your directory structure isn’t the precise layout created by the installer, you’re almost certainly on your own and depending, at best, on community support.
