WoW but with Elden Ring’s Game Engine

After these next 3 expansions, where to you think the game’s direction would head in? Think we’ll get a massive world reset like they did with FF? I could see a whole new wow with an Elden Ring’s type game engine where it’s more fluid and such, that would be awesome

Meh I don’t think there’s still a lot of gamers with a good pc that could handle that. You’d lose customers.

FF was reset because it’s launch failed. Blizz isn’t gonna put money into another version of WoW when they can run 6 versions of the WoW they have and make plenty of $$$. Also WoW on an Elden Ring engine just wouldn’t be WoW anymore.

It’ll probably be in the same category as Plunderstorm for sure. (spinoff etc)

I think what you meant to say was graphics. A game engine does more than just that, ER’s engine couldn’t handle a MMO

I’m sure this wouldn’t cause people’s computers to combust when there’s a raid with a hundred different effects going off at once, or while in a city with a lot of people.

In a world where computers are cheaper and computing power is x100 what is it now, sure. Maybe in the year 2150.

Also, as said above, engine is not graphics. Engine is what the game is built on top of, how it operates. If the graphics are the skin of the game, the engine is the skeleton and musculature.

And FF got a reset, kinda but not really, because it’s initial launch failed. When it reset, it didn’t get a huge graphical upgrade. It still looks like a PS2 game.

Ugh, no. Elden Ring is peak overrated nausea. Fans want to equate difficulty with instant-death and spam dodge-roll like every other action rpg.

It wouldnt be wow then. The look of wow is as iconic as the game itself. Anything else would feel different

The same direction it’s always been going in. And after this trilogy is done, they’ll have some dev go on stage and talk about the next trilogy and how it’s going to define the next 20 years.

Art direction → Don’t change. WoW’s art style is iconic.

Engine Development → They should begin to invest into a global servers.

Recent Projects → The should continue implementing UI features into Edit Mode and continue declawing AddOns. They should also be focused on reducing complexity and difficulty in the game. Player agency in DF was good, and there are a lot of lessons to apply to future iterations of the game. They should continue to create/invest in systems that encourage player-generated content, such ideas like Trail of Style, Player Housing, and Crafting Orders/Professions.

I’d like to leave Lion’s Pride Inn.

Blizzard is not going to rebuild WoW on a new engine.

That’s just not happening.

They’ll improve the current one and make the graphics better over time.

Original FF was also just a horrifically bad game. The fact that they salvaged it is a miracle

to be honest i am happy with the graphics . the engine needs an overhaul for better resource management but the goal should be to be able to run wow on any machine and be light

My son plays that game. The graphics are very impressive but I still like our stylized cartoony look.

What Engine does Elden Ring use? I never played so I don’t know what Hardware its running.

I think it is UE5? I could be wrong in that case come at me forum people.
