My Battle.net client told me that Wow needed to be updated, but when it tries to update, I get the message here, and so begins the endless loop.
Edit: I’ve tried restarting my machine, repairing the wow install, reseting folder permissions, etc. Perhaps an error message that gives some sort of indication about what the problem is would be helpful, because " Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot." is not helpful.
I went ahead and moved your post to a new thread since what you’re describing is unrelated to the LUA error.
BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 may be caused by a couple of different things including permission issues, corrupt data files, problems with the storage drive the game is installed on, or connection issues when downloading the patch.
You mentioned checking the folder permissions, make sure you double check the ownership of the WoW folder as well since if that gets messed up it may cause problems.
Navigate to the World of Warcraft folder where the game is installed.
Right-click on the folder and select Properties.
Go to the Security tab
Click Advanced
Near the top look for Owner and make sure it shows your name, if not then click Change and make yourself the owner.
For Permissions, make sure it shows “Full Control” for Administrators, Users, and INTERACTIVE.
Apply any changes to all sub-folders and files.
If it’s still giving you the error, try the steps to reset the UI in case there’s a problem with addon file permissions.
As a last resort if these steps don’t work and if the scan & repair isn’t able to fix the error you may need to uninstall WoW through the Battle.net app, manually delete the entire WoW folder, then do a fresh install to fix any corrupt data files.
My apologies. I responded in that thread because I got the lua error message talked about in the original post and then the game crashed. When I attempted to restart, I got the message that I posted. I was a bit frustrated after trying the steps outlined in the link that from the message and clearly didn’t add the relevant detail to my post to make that clear.
At any rate, I’m trying the complete re-install of the game now. Second time in as many months.
Edit: Just to follow up, completely re-installing the game did resolve the issue. I am able to launch and play without the updating loop.
