Game is locked behind an mmo, bad group forming systems, and constantly pve grinding.

There would be no point to this, people wouldn t be able to pickup and play WoW arena like its league of legends. To many abilities, macros, and rotations to learn to play the game well
Also then whats the point of xmogs and mounts? Might as well make everything microtransactions from the store if they did this.

you would just learn it like any new player does
a new player has tons of time to work on playing their class before they ever set foot in the arena. that’s the entire reason the game slowly gives spells as you level instead of all at once at lvl 1
so make them level through battlegrounds and skirmishes for low rated players and unlock abilities slowly

I think there is a huge point to solo q the community is missing, the market has changed, wow now competes against games that are easy to pick up a boom you start playing, only thing holding you back is your skill level. Was pretty sad to see the sheer ignorance on these forums at the end of legion coming out against solo q.
Adapt or Die is what is comes down to at the end of the day.

Not sure about free, but wow arena should be a separate entity and totally disconnected from the actual mmo

The only adaptation WoW needs to make is getting out of the outdated MMORPG formula of endless grinding and time investment
Even if they implemented solo q tomorrow this game wouldn’t be able to just be picked up and played. The list of pre requisites before Qing up is ridiculous

I don’t disagree with you per say, but maybe not the right move either. I have friends IRL who are just 30-40 yr old dads that have BC glad titles/mounts but they don’t play wow anymore. They tried to come back in MoP but even that they felt was way too far off from Vanilla/BC gameplay.
Those same people won’t play classic either because they aren’t college students anymore with unlimited free time.
Solo q is part of the problem, but realistically (its probably to late now) if WoW areans wanted to be as big as league or DotA, they needed to have servers where you can roll any class at any time, and not really have to grind gear, or at least get a full Bg set by default.
But since they defiantly wont do that, soloq woulda been the next best thing.
But ya i agree with you they need to stop this endless grind mentality. Every patch this expansion they have added another thing to grind, even me as a pretty dedicated wow player gave up all my alts in 8.2, because its just to grind much and not very fun.

What a strange thing to say, you have no way of knowing the age of the person you’re facing in arena. Do you whisper each person and ask them their age after the game? 
This is a terrible idea tbh.
I think you overestimate the number of player that just want to play arena. Its not even remotely good/feasible use of Blizz’s development time.

I’m always amused at people who push back against the idea of PVP seasons played on tournament style realms, with players allowed to choose whatever gear they want in order to compete on an even playing field. Usually, these are people who are terrible at arena and rely solely on RNG gear to cheese their way to a mediocre rating.
Imagine if arena winners were decided by who the best players were rather than who could sit through enough Mythic+ or Mythic raids to obtain the best gear.
Separate arenas from the main MMORPG and you boost participation on the ladder and bring this closer to an actual e-sport, rather than the joke it’s become.

I’m always amused at people who post on low level alts and have no arena related achievements calling people bad.
This is a MMORPG. Gear isn’t everything but its certainly something. As a stand alone game there is way too much to learn for anyone to get in to just for PvP especially in the state it has been for nearly a decade. Macros, talents, rotations, hell even just what your spells do. This game has like 20x as many buttons as a MOBA it’s not the same thing.
Next time you wanna have a dialogue with someone maybe don’t start with insinuating that anything they have done in this game is based on RNG luck with gear. I’m not even that good but screw you for throwing that shade at me.
I mean what corruption gear is even good for healers? Vers? Voodoo trinket? I have neither of those on my healing set and I don’t arena as WW so what are you even talking about?
