Wow and Free Speech and forum Censorship

Yep. The constitution grants freedom of expression in terms of against the government. You can say whatever the heck you want towards government (local, state or federal).

But as other said before me in this thread you come into my private establishment now you are NOT dealing with government you are trying to test your rights against mine.

I can legally throw you of my business because you are spouting crude nonsense disturbing to my customers and you can’t stop me by saying “freedom of speech!”

Also even with government you have the FREEDOM of expression but there’s no language in the constitution that grants FREEDOM FROM CONSEQUENCE, of what you say.

think I’m lying? Scream something threatening the safety of an important official to their face. See how that freedom of speech excuse helps you there.

This is a pretty loose forum…I mean check out some of the other MMO’s you’ll get banned for saying that you don’t like something.

Also free speech doesn’t exist in a private company…that is only for governments and even then it doesn’t mean what most people think it means…

There seems to be some confusion as to what a private individual can do in their private home. And what a privately owned business can do.

A business is a commercial venture it works on a different set of rules and regulations. By saying privately owned business is just to differentiate from corporate ownership.

A business that is privately owned.
This is not to mean a persons private home. There is a huge deference here. Something that should be kept in consideration.

I’m not even American, but even I understand what free speech means. You don’t by the way. It doesn’t cover private entities. Troll?

And who are you referring to?

If this guy is demanding free speech in a private company’s asset, I also want to demand I be allowed to enter Mc Donalds with no shirt & shoes on because MY BODY, MY CHOICES.

Down with No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service!!

No, you’re really not.

Well the original poster is me. I think you didn’t read the entire original post. And I am a Night Elf based in Stormwind. Not a troll based in Orgrimmar.

Well technically you are a mutated troll.

As long as people are just having normal conversation; not screaming or trying to start fights I think they will not be censored.

I know this is a reply to a very old post in the thread, however to clarify the list of “protected classes” Veteran Status does not apply to your example as it is only a protected class under the VEVRAA, not any other law. This only says a person “cannot be denied employment, harassed, demoted, terminated, paid less or treated less favorably because of your veteran status” and only applies to employers who have contracts with the government in excess of $100,000. Veteran status is not a protected class in any other circumstance under federal law (state laws, of course, vary).

The VEVRAA was passed back when it was common for veterans to be treated badly during and just after the Vietnam war.

I’m going use my free speech to tell OP to go outside and touch grass

Thanks for the information.

Oh now. That just sounds so creepy.

Blizzard isn’t exactly the government. As opposed to the constitution, the company has violated the right to freedom of speech on the forums and in the game. Although, the constitution doesn’t precisely protect the right on sites such as the WoW forums. It has yet to protect that on the web within the US, which hasn’t been brought up. The web in itself is a neutral stomping ground across the world but because of the latest issues that go in with a political party currently dominating the media that makes it hard for the constitution to really go into effect. Unless, the world leaders so decide to make one that will protect freedom of speech which not every world leader will decide on mostly because of the different governments that have conflicting ideals that will ultimately wage internet war on.

well that’s a necro, but good news, net neutrality has been restored, meaning the legal team has no more excuses to continue enabling censorship of ideas and opinions that might get them sued.
