One day Google Translate will have a setting for clown.
Then they need to make Ignore work better. It takes too many steps to ignore someone now, and some people cannot be ignored because of private profile I guess?
Please take a look at the Federalist Papers. Here’s an example written by James Madison in Federalist Paper 10. Tell us why it is not up to high school standards:
“Liberty is to faction, what air is to fire, an aliment, without which it instantly expires. But it could not be a less folly to abolish liberty, which is essential to political life, because it nourish faction, than it would be to wish the annihilation of air, which is essential to animal life, because it imparts to fire its destructive agency.”

When somebody talks about the concept of freedom of speech and you write a novel ending with a gun control rant…
You may be a Biden voter.
Awesome. Thank you.
Because they decided that’s what they should do, which is their constitutional right despite if you agree with it or not.
Idk if that’s true, would be interested to see some cited statistics.
Because they want to, idk why
Idk why they don’t, but in my experience it generally turns in a poop storm really quickly. So that’s a likely reason.
Yes
That is an opinion
If it did, I couldn’t throw someone out of my store for using racial slurs at my patrons, or for insulting my employees. Insults and racial slurs count as free speech under the constitution.
No, they can censor your speech on their platform and on their property. That is a very big distinction.
I don’t think that’s a mistake at all.
- How do you know what all of the private companies are thinking?
- To negate the constitution you would have to undermine it’s purpose. You are suggesting that the purpose of the first amendment is to make a society where anyone can say anything to anyone at anytime and that nobody can react in a way that would censor them. I don’t think that is what the founding fathers had in mind.
I think that you are wrong in both cases
No, it would mean I could walk into a church or a store, or my job and I could say the most heinous thing I could think of to anyone and nobody could do anything because they would be silencing my “free speech”. I could harass without consequence.
I think it’s debatable if this is actually even a conundrum at all.
I think that free speech absolutism is about as intellectually honest and realistic as absolute anarchy as a framework for a society.
I think that I might not always agree with what is being censored but I think there is a line that should not be crossed, I think most people agree with that but the debate lies in where that line should be.
I think blizzard should moderate their forum, to whatever standard they find appropriate, as is their right to do with their platform, if I find it too restrictive I’ll just go somewhere else.
Same answer as the previous question.
I think that humans do the best they can, and at times they can fall short. But I think failure is far better than not trying.
There it is.
On the plus side, Blizzard cannot force the government to take action unless certain laws were broken in the nature of 1A. You can only get jailed online as opposed to OFFLINE for a bad posting reputation.
It’s fine more or less the way it is, but people should learn a thing or two about mutual respect…
I agree with this and I practice what I preach: I don’t go to places that don’t interest me or if I don’t feel welcomed. It’s funny that we try to be “inclusive” but at the same time refuse to take some people as they are. That nearly hinges on EXCLUSIVITY(you can’t hang with us in OUR circles). The forums are supposed to be a SHARED space we each PAY for. I personally think it’s better to live and let live than to live and let die.
But you have yet some self-righteous types who profess that you have to be of a certain cut or mold to bother with an MMO, an antiquated genre that passed the test of time with a grade of D+. I think a lot of the problem at hand involves how the normal and average MMORPGer is expected to conduct themselves, but things have CHANGED a lot since the 1990’s.
Because games like this require good cohesive teamwork, it’s antithetical to rock the boat and say all manner of things considered undermining and offensive. Yet nowadays, this game has never been more soloist. Thus censorship to me should be limited at clear-and-present-danger clause type speech that CAN be damaging just like it is in RL. Anything that shouts “Bomb!” on an airplane are things I don’t want to see here.
I have almost no problems. There have been instances when maturity is lacking but it’s too few and far in between. A little censorship is better than no censorship, although it should never be weaponized against people by those who are privileged to know the moderators more personally.
Only if you had to be vetted for your age(“must be at least 18”). Otherwise, some things would need to be censored.
These are the fairest I know among the Internets, so yes. Some places have jackhole mods that would ban you just because they personally don’t want you around.
you actually do. most of the time people just punch you for it though instead of calling the police for a battery charge
Twitter (now private under Musk) says hi. The lefty Dems cant wait to impose santions on what can and cant be said.
Actually, I would have simply guessed someone who had no knowledge about civics but a typical adolescent disdain for history.
The obvious disdain for the Constitution in general is an indication of the cult of our previous leader, while the focus on the second amendment looks more like what you said; ergo not either party nor an informed independent (hopefully not a voter).
Wasn’t Kanye banned recently? Didn’t realize Musky was a free speech hating lefty.
Well at least Biden believes in the Constitution and doesn’t want it suspended like the other party does.
The Twitspace is now more open then previously, that may be a good thing or not, only time will tell for sure. But it is not a simple anarchy, that wouldn’t work, and the idea is to make it profitable. Outright support for dead practitioners of genocide oversteps even the new more open rules.
Oh, ok. Neat story there.
Honestly surprised at that one given I’ve seen far more NSFW links and vids posted on these fora than that tame comic. At least some of their other comics are “safe” (and funny!).
If it is not owned or run by the government (i.e. it’s a private entity), free speech protections do not apply. The lone wrinkle there are official government accounts on social media platforms - those cannot be outright silenced, though if delivering misleading content can be labeled as such with a warning and that the user should do their own research.
I rather like that there are rules I have to follow. On my own in my own little room I have a tendency to cuss like a sailor. Profanity rules online help me keep that in check. Sometimes that subtle back of the mind nudge keeps me from making an in-game feaux pas. Besides, Son of a Submariner (thank you Final Fantasy VI!) sounds much cooler and doesn’t get me in trouble.
This has nothing to do with free speech on forums bub, I understand americans are a bit… slow… but your constitution means less than what my dog leaves in my yard on a multinational videogame forum. You have no free speech here, Blizz isnt the government. Its painful to have to explain american freedom to actual americans
I’m not like every other American lmao, I’m very much for free speech and your insult doesn’t work on me. Take your drama elsewhere.
you are exactly like every other american. No idea what what your constitution means, no idea how and where it applies and no ability to self reflect and say " maybe I should leave the big brain thinking to big brains" you fit in well with the crowd
Making it look like I am like every other American doesn’t prove your point. Your making yourself look like an idiot and I find that hilarious
