I only get the weird private server ads. I assume because I watch a lot of hardcore highlights.

I haven’t seen an ad besides. Think the last one I seen was for WoD.

For reasons unknown to me, not everyone uses adblockers.

Ublock origin + Firefox

Google can go to hell

on my TV, yes I have adblockers on my other devices. I just wanted to compliment Blizz on these ads…

if you know how to ad block a samsung, let me know…

My boss has a setup where he uses a pihole (DNS black hole on a Raspberry Pi) for adblocking across his home network. He has DHCP set to provide the pihole’s IP for DNS requests. He also has his router configured to redirect any DNS requests not headed to it back to the pihole to do its magic. That way, anything with a hard-coded external DNS (most IoT devices) still have to go through the pihole.

Are they all with dubstep music and everyone having a dance off in Dorn? Cause if not I’m not watching it ever.

youtube premium dont have adds at the start of the videos

Sure but why would I pay to avoid ads when adblockers are free?

Private servers…pay for advertising? Today I learned.

Best setup for web browser ever now…I have been with Firefox since it first came out in Nov 2004…I hate IE or Edge whatever it is now…

Yeah, the most common one is this ‘classless’ one. I never watched one all the way through since it’s done in that ‘rapid fire edit wow so random’ way, but it pops up every now and then.

I don’t even remember the name of it.

YouTube has gone harder against adblockers recently. I had ublock or whatever and YouTube will straight up tell you that after this video you will be unable to watch anything until you whitelist them.

I expect you gotta go for the more advanced stuff, idk.

Well yea, no one wants to pay money not to watch ads, thats just dumb

Yeah I don’t use devices that get youtube ads. Even my phone doesn’t get ads (though I had to uninstall the Youtube app).

Huh, I haven’t gotten that yet. Might be NoScript; I’ve found that it often blocks the anti-adblocker popups/etc that some sites do.

Doesn’t happen to me. I use Ublock, but it’s not my only line of defense. I have hardcore adblocking that includes Ublock, modified host files, and some helper stuff on my Linux server/router. Ads are straight up NOT permitted on my network.

I’ve never gotten any error messages or anything, just no ads. I will die on this hill. Even if it means wasting even more of their bandwidth by downloading videos first.

I will also not allow Chrome on any of my machines. Not only is it a terrible browser (the only good thing I could ever say about it is “well, it’s better than IE” - but that’s a really low bar, that’s like saying you’re taller than Warwick Davis), at this point it is outright malware.

The only “WoW ads” I’ve ever seen are the Ascension private server ones lol. Not sure why Youtube peddles those. They’ve recently made steps to un-monetize those fake movie trailer channels, so not sure why they’d let fake WoW ads play.

I go into a catatonic state the moment an ad tries to play so I learn nothing about the product at all

They will not win with me
