WoW’s 18th anniversary is just on the horizon, and I don’t expect much of anything different for this year compared to last few anniversaries.
However, with the 30th anniversary of Mortal Kombat’s release approaching tomorrow and so far it looking like NetherRealm is going to do much of anything for that anniversary beyond the short video clip they released—though hopefully something more substantial will hit from them—I’ve been wondering if we’ll get anything extra special for the 20th anniversary of WoW, which should also coincide with the 30th anniversary of the release of Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans (and Blackthorne).
Personally, I’m not at all sure what I would like to see for the 20th. With Classic existing now, I’m not convinced that something Vanilla-nostalgic like we saw with the 10th WoW anniversary would be very exciting. Also, myself included, I don’t think many players would really want to see a Warlords of Draenor themed anniversary event either, even though '24 will also be the 10th anniversary for WoD. But, having just said that, I wouldn’t mind seeing an Anniversary Ashran then, except one that has a massive player count like it did back in 6.0.3 (150 players), since I do love a good game of Ashran (and, with role-lock, the Classic Ashran brawl isn’t a good enough substitute for the original).
I really don’t feel like Mega-lag, 150-player Ashran would be actually be a worthy event for the 20th anniversary, especially with it also being the 30th of the franchise. Buuuut…I don’t have any other ideas.
In any case, I’m interested in seeing if anyone has any concepts they would like to see Blizz implement for the 20th anniversary (or any projects you’d like to see outside of WoW related to the 30th anniversary of Warcraft [or Blackthorne for that matter, which is a game I loved because I was a big cinematic platformer fan])…
…also, of course I have an semi-pertinent—well, to a 30th anniversary at least—custom GIF:

In case anyone was waiting patiently for a big MK1 30th anniversary project…And, I hadn’t considered it before, but hearing that, I now fully expect that all we get for the WoW-20th/Warcraft-30th anniversary is some kind of mobile tie-in. “Do you guys not have phones?”
I highly expect it to be Ion announcing that they have been listening to feedback and finally got the issues worked out in the game and they are introducing Player Housing…

I’m for something new and unique, not some re-release of an item that is already out there no matter how rare it is. If they go that route, I want to see Swift Spectral Tigers everywhere I look.
