It’s the only solution (with character transfer)
That’s it. That’s the topic.
Solution to what?
To what exactly? The current state of WoW? Absolutely not. We don’t need them working on engine upgrades and garbage like that when they need to focus on gameplay.
Agree, most likely they will only keep adding Band-Aids to this game and making it worse.
The two aren’t really mutually exclusive. WoW 2 would be a great chance to shed all that old weight and start fresh.
That said, it’s never, ever going to happen.
It wouldn’t solve anything though.
It would be the exact same team creating/maintaining it, along with the same whiny player base.
You really think Blizzard is gonna spend years building a new game from the ground up, then more years converting all the assets so people can transfer their characters with, im assuming, their mounts and transmogs?
ya, no. I live in a place called reality.
Do you really trust the current dev team to create an mmo that rivals WoW?
After everything they’ve done with WoW in recent years, I’m not playing a WoW 2 they create any time soon.
I think they should do WOW “Remastered” starting with classic. They could updgrade the graphics to Shadowlands level, add barber shops and all the new races / classes and character customization options. Also add quality of life improvements like summoning stones, group finder cross-faction AH and stuff like that. Also they should rework the boss mechanics and make them more challenging. Then after everything has been cleared in Vanilla “Remastered”, continue the story in a new way with all new expansions.
Why does anyone think this will ever be a thing in any kind of actual sequel, ever?
If there are so few changes that a character can be transferred with all of their items and collections and stats and everything, then why was a sequel made to begin with?
No.
Any worthwhile sequel will be different enough to make this impossible, beyond maybe reserving your character name and getting a special title or transmog or something for “Transferring”.
Ok… so who will pay for it cause Activision? …hic!
I hope the irony of this post isn’t lost on you.
Would I play a WoW 2, without all the gold inflation, power inflation, and various imbalances that exist in the game? One with completely fresh content?
Absolutely.
Would enough other people? Absolutely not. Too many people in this game are not addicted to the game itself, per se, but about how they’re better at it than others, either through high PvP ranking, achievements, high key running, etc. If they had to give that up, they probably would not move to a WoW 2.
But the bigger reason, I suspect, is that with WoW 2 being a different game, they would have to bill people differently. And do you want to guess as to the number of people who continue to autopay for the game, even though they’ve stopped playing? Maybe because they say “Yeah, I’ll go back to that someday” or have just forgotten they’ve set it up? I bet you it’s a very high number, and Blizz would hate to lose that source of income.
Something something eating cake.
That’s part of why we’ll never get it, though.
Don’t think you understand what WoW2 is.
No character transfer, nothing you have you’ll keep. It’s a fresh game.
Otherwise it’s just another WoW expac.
Oh? No longer want WoW2?
Wow 2 will be a mobile game.
We Already got WoW 2. It’s called Catacylsm.
If we get another Major Overhaul that completely changes the planet, progression, and character design. That would be WoW 3.
The problem with the game is the company itself. Making a new version of the game will change nothing. It would still be the same carry sales, mythic gear/legendary on auction house, token sale dumpster fire with a shiny new package.
With how they had a bit of work with the separate shoulder mogging, me thinks this games setup/coding/engine etc is holding back a lot of potentially better ideas.
I don’t want to wait 50 years for it though.
And if Ion is at the helm, no thanks again.
