Wouldn't this be the optimal opportunity to gauge RPPVP interest?

To have a RPPVP server option in the stress test list, so that you can gauge interest?

Guys, this isn’t rocket surgery. Are you intentionally trying to snub a huge part of your potential classic player base?

It doesn’t take rocket appliances to realize that all you gotta do is take a chain, hook it up to a truck and rip the bank machine out.

I certainly feel like mashing something. I just cannot grasp the thought processes going on with this reboot. I honestly can’t.

It is not even remotely conceivable.

The problem is that those who want RPPVP servers do not want to deal with the non-RP folks on PVP servers, and we don’t want to be stuck on a RP server where flagging is optional (worse than warmode). Then you have those who do not visit the forums, who won’t know where to go and will only know their preferred realm type from vanilla is for some ungodly reason is simply not there.

The justification for the need of RPPVP servers have been covered extensively in Pintero’s thread. The desire for just ONE of these servers at release is there. What harm would it do to at least take one of the PVP servers in the stress test and mark it RPPVP so they would have a solid idea of the people wanting them? And that would not even include those that are not currently subbed who would choose that realm type.

I just don’t get it.

Waiting until after release to open one causes a number of issues (again, covered in the other thread).

Yeah, I got one word wrong. I think my brain wanted to stop me from remembering it.

oh sorry, broken. i hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction. unfortunately, my problem solving abilities dont extend to solving for final dev decisions. :pensive:

 well your brain has questionably good taste. try that sentence on . huh? huh? thats a doozy.

RP-PVP servers are quite popular, even on live. I remember Emerald Dream drawing all the PVPers. Tichondrius was where PVEers sampled PVP in BGs and wanted to hang with the instanced-PVP heroes (arena players). Emerald Dream was where you went for PVP everywhere, in every waking moment! Cities being attacked, attacked during world quests, and of course BGs + Arena. It was fun. If they only made one RP-PVP server it’d be packed.

Because the goal is to stresst test a server and not figure out what people want. Forums are a better way to understand that.

Blizzard can tell if you are rpee n.

Given the average population of PVP servers?

No.

RP servers were there at launch. RP-PVP servers were added later in Vanilla (but well before 1.12).

Agree with Brokenwind, would be a perfect opportunity to gauge which server type has which level of demand. That said I guess they might just want to stress out any old server type at this stage and hold some further, possibly unannounced STs to test specific realm type demand.

Then why have them broken down into realm type as they do?

If they have over 3k people stressing a RPPVP server, that is a full vanilla-sized realm on it’s own.

While the Classic team has been doing a great job this feels like an Ion decision telling players what they like instead of asking them what they like… they’re never going to give RPPVP a chance…

Makes no sense to exclude RPPvP if they’re going to bother assigning realm types, like they have done, albeit to offline realms. It could change before the ST commences though.

No they aren’t, not even close. There’s one former RP-PvP server with a good population and the rest of those realms are dead.

The RP-PvP servers before BfA were:

Maelstrom, Venture-Co; Lightninghoof, Ravenholdt; Twisting Nether and Emerald Dream.

The RP servers before BfA were:

Argent Dawn, Blackwater Raiders; Cenarion Circle, Earthen Ring; Farstriders, Feathermoon; Kirin Tor, Moon Guard; Scarlet Crusade, Sentinels; Shadow Council, Silver Hand; Sisters of Elune, Steamwheedle Cartel; The Scryers, Thorium Brotherhood and Wyrmrest Accord.

Every one of those RP-PvP servers besides Emerald Dream have been among the most dead servers for years.
