Wouldn’t Cross-Realm Servers solve all our issues?

If it’s so incredibly impossible to find groups on non mega servers why are there even servers with sub 10k pops existing? Mine has less than 4k on if pro and yet I can find groups. You guys are literally leaving servers because you’re not getting instant groups and crying they dont work and that they’re dead, you kill those servers and now you want to kill the remaining servers because you dont think you deserve to be in a queue when you are the reason they exist in the first place.

cross realm doesnt increase the number of people an individual realm can hold…

Cross realm servers absolutely destroy any sense of community. The queues will die down. Implementing CRZ to fix a short term problem would drive people away just like it did in retail.

That’s not true. My guild didn’t want to leave the server. We liked it there. And no one wanted to be on a mega server. It just felt like the only safe option after spending a hundred bucks to transfer their main and alts. They stuck around and stuck around and stuck around until it just wasn’t working anymore. You’re arrogant, condescending, and clueless. Here’s the reality

Exactly, it’s a bunch of mega server players who don’t care about the game anyway that want this and couldn’t care less about destroying the fun for every other server.

And you had many options. You chose the mega server knowing full well there would be queues on expansion release. Now you want blizzard to kill basically every other servers identity so we all have to play like you do?

I’m wondering if they could use Communities and just move the Realms to there, while enabling cross-realm.

Because it is nice to see the ‘same faces’, and not have them be guildmates or players you had to add to a list just to keep seeing.

You know the best way to keep communities alive? By not implementing cross server in the first place.

This is true, but the alternative is Blizzard opens up transfers.

Note: I have no queue times at my playtimes on Pagle.

I specifically picked a ‘mega server’ because you have two choices: Mega Server or Dead Server. If you’re not on a Mega Server you will end up on a Dead Server.

Given the history of blizzards mismanagement of their servers many people who spent $100 to transfer didn’t want to take the chance they might have to spend that money again. But I didn’t make that choice. I refused to transfer to a mega server with my guild.

No, I want the same choice I had during original wrath, to use the rdf. No one else has to play like me. The lfg channel still existed in original wrath along side the rdf. It wasn’t even gatekept like it is now with blizzards new tool. Anyone could choose to use it to find their groups the same way they did in Vanilla and BC.

And that’s the problem. People think if there isn’t 15k or more players their server is dead. I’m on a 4k pop realm and I can still find raids. Do you think if the pop drops below 10k that automatically noone wants to do anything in game anymore?

I am not against RDF, I am for RDF. I am against cross realm in the open world on my server. Finding groups more easily is a bonus, if that’s cross realm I couldn’t care less otherwise seeing as there is no socialisation involved in dungeons anyway. What I don’t want to see is thousands of random players with a server name behind it sharding into my server that I will never see again.

Snowballs quickly, there’s that one server, where Blizzard locked Horde transfers.
…within something like a month, every Horde had left; over half the population gone to another server.

Who wants to play on a server that might end up a ghost town in a matter of “minutes” because Blizzard decided to ‘fix’ the population problem. Better to pick a ‘mega server’ that’ll weather many a storms.

And I’m not for cross realm open world. I’m only for cross realm rdf. But you are seriously down playing the difficulties many people have getting dungeon groups. And the problems it’s caused. The difficulties many have finding groups is the main driver of transfers to mega realms.

You’re welcome to play on a mega server. I am going to stay on my small server. If I have to transfer down the track so be it. But if I do I’m not going to come begging for cross realm to be introduced so I don’t have to wait in a queue (which won’t be a problem long term) because I know that it will destroy any sense of server identity on any server that isn’t a mega realm.

I know finding a group is hard and sometimes takes a while. I want RDF aswell, think it was just a miscommunication as i am reading the post and understanding the OP wants cross realm in the open world. If it’s for RDF I am all for that.

Where did I ever ask for this?

The post just says cross realm, doesn’t reference RDF at all.

But if that’s not what you’re after I’ve essentially been arguing all morning with a bunch of people for no reason because I am for RDF lol

There are 3 types of Cross Realm.

Cross Realm Zones

Cross Realm Servers

Cross Realm Groups

Cross Realm Groups already exist in the game in the form of BGs.

What I was asking for specifically was Cross Realm Servers, this is where your server for example at 4k will be able to play with people who are at servers with 30k.

This does not mean you will see the 30k people on your 4k server, it just means that activities like raids and dungeons can be done with more than people on your server and they were able to initially do this with LFD/RDF.

I’m saying that if we bring Cross Servers back, we can make it less mandatory for people to only pick Mega Servers thus leaving it free for them to play from anywhere and still be able to maintain communities on other servers.

This technology not only exists in Classic but has in Retail for many, many years now. All they had to do was bring it over and like magic most of our problems will disappear overnight when it comes to server and population issues.
